chapter 13

Klaus pov.

I was hunting for campers in the woods when I heard whimpering in the distance. Me, being the curious vampire I am I went to see what it was. I speed to a tree and the whimpering got louder.

It was coming for above me. I looked up and a little girl was up in the tree. I don't think she saw me yet so I took the time to observe her.

She had a tan. Which told me she has been outside for a while. Her hair was dark brown and so were her eyes that she had just opened and looked at me with.

"What are you doing up there." I asked. She just looked at me with startled eyes.

" I'm not going to hurt you. Just come down please." I said in a soft voice. Well the softest my voice can go. She looked like she was thinking about it.

Finally after Five minutes she started climbing down the tree. We she finally got down I kneeled to her height.

"What is your name sweetheart?"

"Jada." She answered simply in a small voice.

"Jada, that is pretty. Do you want to tell me why you out here alone in the woods?" I asked calmly.

I don't know why, but instantly felt protective over this little girl. There was only one person that I really cared about other than my family and that was Ana.

"They didn't want me. " She answered with tears rolling down her face.

I didn't respond. I just picked her up and let her cry on my shoulder while I walk back to the hotel.

Anastasia pov.

I had just walked out of the bedroom when Nik walked in the door. He wasn't alone though. There was a child sleeping in his arms.

"Klaus what did you do?" I asked in disbelief.

"Nothing love I found her in the woods. She was crying in a tree. " He explained himself.

I nodded my head and took the girl from him. I walked back to the room and put her down on the bed.

"Did she say anything?" I asked Nik when I walked back into the living room.

"Yes. She said her named was Jada. She also said 'They didn't want me.' Judging by her smell I wouldn't say that she is human."

"You are right but what is she? She doesn't smell like a vampire. She has a hint of wolf, but not fully." I gave my honest opinion.

"Well we will find out more when she wakes up love. The plan for the sacrifice is almost done."

"We will be ready by then. We still need the moonstone also." I informed.

Nik nodded his and kissed my lips. He walked off towards the kitchen. I sat on the sofa and thought about the little girl Nik brought here.

'Who didn't want her and why was she in the woods alone?' I asked myself.
