I felt a firm hand around my upper arm as I was dragged up, the injection from Aditya's arm dropping from my hand. I raised my leg, kicking back, I span around to face my assailant, I pulled his head down, my knee hitting him in the chin until I was dragged back by another man who held a gun to my head

"Shh, shh now, it won't be painful, he'll be awake in half an hour or so, then we kill you, quickly, then it's all over"

I looked down at his hands on my wrist, I turned my hands so they were faced down, then pressed my hips back, as soon as he let me go, I swung the lamp around his head knocking him out, then threw the lamp at the other man. "Aditya, Aditya" I bowed ny head, deciding the only way to get him out of the house was to drag him, I pulled his legs forward as quickly as possible till he was outside, unlocked my car, then heaved him into the seat before getting in myself and driving away

I turned to the side to see Aditya open his eyes "Huh, where are we going"

"Um, two people came to get you, but it's okay, I got us out"

His eyes shone with pride as he sat up "Where are we going habibti"

"Im going to get you out of here, it isn't safe" I turned onto a desserted road, smiling at Pooja and Noor "I can't thank you both enough for this" I hugged them as I got out

Aditya reached out for me, pulling me to the side "Zoya, if you do this"

"Habibti please, I hate it when you call me Zoya" I grimaced

He closed his eyes "Fine, habibti, if you do this, you'll never see me again, you know that right" he cupped my cheeks "I won't be able to come back"

I looked over at Pooja and Noor who held out the envelope to me, this was the safest option, all I wanted was to keep him safe and if this was the cost I had to pay, then I would.

"Passport and burner phone are in there, here is your getaway car, tickets are booked, no one is expecting you to leave, all the details are in there, we work fast" Pooja smiled softly

I reached out, hugging them both "I love you both so much, thank you for this" then turned back to Aditya

He looked down at the envelope "Im not ready to say goodbye" he shook his head "I stuck around for five years, I didnt expect it to end like this"

"Neither did I, but you have nothing to miss in this city"

"I have you" his eyes met mine "One of the only good things in my life" he brushed his thumb against my cheek, then kissed my forehead

"You'll always have me, no matter where you are, now go, please" I wrapped my arms around his waist "Don't forget me or ill beat you up, thank you, so much for loving me even when I didn't deserve it" I swallowed back the tears as he sat in the car and drove away, thanking Pooja and Noor as he did so

Aditya's POV-

I looked around the very plain looking apartment, my head had ached the whole way here, I didn't want to ask Zoya to leave with me, because it would have been unfair, but losing the one and only good thing in my life was painful.

I stood up, looking at the balcony, atleast I would have something to remember her by, the burner phone would allow me one phone call, as much as I wanted to hear her voice, I didn't want to waste it just yet.

"Hey, Aditya" I glanced up to see someone leaning against the railings of the balcony opposite me, a surge of deja vu flew through my brain. The lights switched on, Zoya had her head tipped to the side "Think you can help clean this up" she pointed to her head

I was shocked that Zoya stood opposite me, how did she get here? What was she even doing here? "Sure, if you come here" I replied, playing along, my heart racing at the thought that maybe she remembered. As soon as I heard the door open I walked forward

"Hey neighbour" Zoya smiled, then wrapped her arms around my waist, her face snuggled into my chest "I know its only been a few days, but i've missed you so much"

"What are you doing here habibti"

"Oh, starting afresh with you, I started to remember some things and I know that it isn't like it used to be, but I figured what other badboy is going to love me like you do, in all honesty I only had Pooja and Noor left there and I knew I needed to fight for my happiness, so here I am, if you'll still take me, i'd really love to learn how to love you again" her smile was breathtaking, her eyes shimmering in the sunlight

"You're sure this is what you want, you understand you may never see them or contact them again" I looked down at her, so kind, so pure, so much sacrifice all for me, a man she hardly remembered

"Never say never, this is what I want, so can I be your neighbour again"

I held her to me tighter, taking in her soft scent, her body pressed up against mine made me feel at home "You can be my neighbour again, nothing would make me happier, than trying to win you again" I rested my forehead against hers "You're just too good"

"Neighbours that occasionally stay at eachothers house though" she smiled

I shook my head "You really want to spend that much time around me for so long, aren't you scared of sleeping with the criminal"

"Pfft, I still have my handcuffs, so don't try anything funny"

I raised a brow "See I knew you were kinky, save it for the bedroom jesus habibti" I shook my head

Zoya gasped, slapping my shoulder "You're such a flirt" her cheeks blushed crimson

As I looked down at her, thoughts of new beginnings in my head, I knew she was my perfect opposite, once a man so cold, I never cared for anyone, she had so easily lit up a flame within me that would always burn for her. I knew then and there that this was where I was meant to be, my whole life had led to her, and now I would spend the rest of my life reminding her why she was so important to me

She had given me purpose. "Only with you habibti" I pressed a chaste kiss to her lips

She let out a soft giggle "My Abbu is going to be so mad, lawyer turns police officer turns to being a woman in love with a man from the" she stopped her hand over her mouth "whoops, I was meant to save that for later, but it doesnt matter or is it weird that I love you because I don't remember anything, oh who cares"

"Shh, I love you too habibti"

She placed my hand over her heart "Here's to doing a lot more than just looking at you kid" she winked

And as I wrapped my arms back around her, her small figure in my arms, I knew that this was it. This was the happy ending I had been looking for forever. I had finally won, I had the woman of my dreams, my habibti.
