"So if you wanna piss off your parents

date me to scare them

show them you're all grown up.."

Kala swallowed nervously as she reached up her hand to open the coffee house door. She could see her mother sitting at a table in the corner. Her lips painted and hands folded anxiously. Kala truly hoped that this meeting would ended differently then the usual times they crossed paths. They hadn't even spoken since she left the house a few weeks back.

"Oh sweetie! I've missed my angel!" Her mother cried out as she set her purse down on the table.

Her hands pulled Kala into a warm hug and she could hear the tears being held back.

"I'm so sorry mom." Was all she could get out before her tears couldn't hide any longer.

"She was a great one man." Michael said solemnly handing a beer to Ashton.

"No. She was perfect. How did I actually fall for a good one and somehow screw things over like always."

"Maybe it wasn't meant to be."

"I should have just apologized over and over again then maybe kissed her." Ashton pondered aimlessly.

"You're still so whipped man it's hardly funny. It's been what two weeks almost since you've seen her."

"Shut up."

"Why don't you just do it?" Michael asked.

"What?"

"Go find her kiss her and apologize like a fool. If you want her back then go get her back don't wait for her."

"I don't know."

"Never know till you try."

"It was the worst way to prove myself to you. And I know that especially now I just look like a fool. I hope you and dad will just give me another chance." Kala hated the words as she spoke but she felt like she didn't have another choice.

"Of course we will. I appreciate you being sorry but we should have listened to you. Maybe even given you more slack. I hate to admit it but I know now more than ever that you are growing up."

"Making you mad wasn't the right thing to do though."

"Well just promise me that you're done with that boy okay. Because you deserve better. You don't need to date jerks to scare me anymore.  And my friend Lisa has a lovely son your age that's thinking of being an accountant..."

Mrs. Tally's words trailed off in her daughters head. Only Ashton held her attention span these days. Maybe it was meant to be like this and it was better off they had parted ways. But it still hurt like hell. And she sure did wish she had spoken sooner that night he came by. She hadn't though, and that was what she was going to have to live with.

"I promise I'm done with him."
