The day was very hot, you could see men and women sweating profusely, as they busied around the market, all engaged in one activity or the other.Elfreda steps into view as she alights from a cab.
She was slim, dark skinned, and tall. She wore a red dress and carried a purple purse.
She soon disappeared into the crowd.
She navigated the market easily, this was a familiar place for her, she enjoyed coming to the market, something about the way goods where displayed appealed to her, or maybe it was because the scenery took her mind away from her worries.
She took a turn and approached a store.
"Hey! my customer", the store owner called out as she recognized Elfreda.
Mrs. Winifred sold vegetables at the Wuse main market. Elfreda had patronized Mrs. Winnifred's store for about a year now.
"Good afternoon ma, how are you?" asked Elfreda. She found her self smiling sheepishly as Mrs. Winifred, with arms wide open invited her for a hug.
They had become quite close. Elfreda found her motherly nature comforting.
Elfreda sank into Mrs. Winifred's embrace, she needed this hug.
She had done her best to keep her family matters out of the ears of others. She kept her worries to herself. Who could she tell, that she was loosing faith in her marriage, that she missed her husband so much even though they shared the same bed everyday.
Mrs. Winifred proceeded to show her stock, she picked up a stalk of pumpkin leaves from the table and was about to give it to Elfreda...
"My dear what's the matter? Mrs. Winifred asked, surprised.
Elfreda had not noticed the tears rolling down her cheek. That hug must have broken her last line of defense.
"Uhm... nothing", Elfreda said... wiping here eyes with the back of her hand.
"I would like some carrots" Elfreda said, desperately trying to change the subject. She did not want to voice out her fears, even to herself, It just made it more real.
She took a step towards a pile of Irish potatoes, intentionally, away from Mrs. Winifred's curious gaze.
"Young lady, you know you eventually have to talk to someone about whatever it is that bothers you, right?" Asked Mrs. Winifred, she really hoped Elfreda would take her advice.
Elfreda made the rest of her purchases as swiftly as possible. She suddenly needed to be away from everyone she was not ready to share this pain growing in her heart with anyone, at least not until she was sure her fears where true.
She walked down the park and hailed a cab, "Herbert Estate!" She called out.
The cab halted by her side, she open the door to the back seat and stepped in.
The cab sped away...

Elfreda picked up a magazine and tried to read.
A picture of a bride and groom caught her attention, they where models for TiOluwa's Couture, the same brand that made her wedding dress.
Memories of her honeymoon flooded her mind.
Felix had surprised her with two plane tickets to Dubai for their honeymoon.
Those where the best two weeks of her life, they had toured Dubai, gone surfing and camel riding, best of all she was with the love of her life.
Living the life could not be defined any better.
She remembered that night at the beach, Felix had set up a camp tent over looking the sea. She smiled as she remembered him singing to her.
They laughed their hearts out that night, Felix had choreographed to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, it was so funny she taught...
She remembered how she felt when Felix kissed her, she had grabbed his arm because she felt her legs melt like jelly.
The cool breeze of the evening, the candle lights, the clear skies, Ed Sheeran's -Perfect playing in the background, the perfect romantic atmosphere.
He picked her off her feet and took her into the tent, he laid her down slowly on the camp bed.
He traced the line of her neck with his lips, gently kissing every inch, while his hands located her breast.
He seemed to know what her body craved.
Her nipples where hard, she was hot down south... "yes!" she whimpered as she enjoyed every warmth and pleasure his mouth poured on her nipples.
She felt his fingers reach for her undies, she shifted closer to give him room, wondering why the hell those things where still on.
He raised her thigh, drawing closer...
"Ma, Madam we are here" said the Cab driver.
Elfreda blinked hard tying to clear her head, she had not realized they had arrived.
"Thank you", she muttered under her breadth.
She walked towards the house more determine than ever to make her marriage work.
