"Stop! Please stop Kim! Stop hurting yourself, you're breaking my heart to watch you doing this." tears streamed down Gerard's face as his best friend slashed her arms with a metal razor, which she wouldn't let go of, no matter how forcefully Gerard tried to remove it from her grasp.

"No, no, I need to die, but first I need to suffer! I need to suffer because of who I am! Who am I!?" the girl with the long red hair screamed, shakily. She was weak at the knees, and felt like she was going to throw up sometime soon.

Gerard's tears weren't enough to stop the girl from destroying herself, but he could stop her for a limited amount of time. She loved him in the way a friend loves a friend enough to put the blade down for a minute, once she saw that she was hurting not just herself, but her best friend too. "I'm so sorry Gerard. I'm so sorry."

"It's fine. Stop though. Please." he wrapped his arms around the 'nutcase redhead', hugging her to stop her tears.

"I'm getting blood on y-"

"Shh... it's okay. It will wash out."

"Gerard please help me... You're the only person who can help me. I'm sorry..."

"I'll help you, you know I will. You're my best friend, and the only one who talked me out of jumping off the bridge when we were thirteen. That saved my life. I'll save you. You'll be fine. You'll be just fine, I promise. Come on through to the bathroom and I'll get you cleaned up okay?"

She nodded, through trembling movements. After following Gerard through to the bathroom, she sat down on the edge of the bathtub, turning the water on so that she could clean the blood from her arms and her legs. The girl trembled, her hair going into her face. Gerard sat down beside her and moved her hair away from her face and looked into her eyes. "You will be okay. I won't let anybody hurt you." he sighed. Brushing a messy auburn strand from her face, he looked into her light blue eyes and sighed. He kissed her lightly on the lips and gave her a hug whilst he waited for the bathtub to fill. Although he'd just kissed her, it wasn't a big deal. There wasn't anything between them. They really were just friends.

Kim wasn't Gerard's type. No girl was. Gerard was gay. It didn't bother Kim at all. It was a thing that they did. They had tried to date each other, before realizing that it wasn't right, they were just too similiar personalities, and Gee wasn't interested in girls. She liked him for that reason. He was so easy going. Gerard wasn't a gossip, he wasn't a bully, he wouldn't laugh if she fell or tripped like she had so many times in front of him. He was her best friend, and he would always stay that way. They would always say things like "I Love You" to each other, but it would never be meant in that kind of way despite everything. The friendship between them was something nobody could come between, and they never fought, and they never screamed at each other, except for when Kim tried to hurt herself, in a destructive frame of mind. They shared an apartment together in a gloomy part of Belleville in New Jersey. He respected her privacy and she respected his. Their friendship was something special. Sometimes they felt like having a friendship like this was more important than an actual relationship.

The bathtub was full, and Kim dipped her blood soaked legs into the water, remaining on the edge of the bathtub so that her t-shirt and shorts didn't get wet. She was struggling to cope. "What's wrong?" asked Gee, frowning slightly.

"I don't know. It's this. What happens to me. There are times I want to free myself from the fear, the tears and the screaming and other times I want to die. But I forget that I get like this when I feel I want to die. It's a vicious circle. But what if one day I do die Gerard? What if I do kill myself one day?"

"I won't let that happen. You're my best friend, Kim. And even if we both end up in relationships, I know we'd stay together as best friends. And if you die, I'd die inside. You mean everything to me."

"Thanks Gee, I love you."

"Yeah, I love you too." he smiled at her. She was pretty - blue eyes, red hair and freckles. He was glad he had made a difference to her life, someone so destructive to herself, he was glad he could stop it the majority of the time.
