Ashley

We were staying at this really nice Airbnb in LA.

Everything was perfect so far, but there still something bugging me. I snuggle more into the clean white sheets trying to make myself comfortable.

"Knock knock." I look up up at Mason walking in with 2 iced coffees.

I snatch it out of his hands and take a huge gulp. I look back up at Mason with the cup still attached to my lips. His eyes were wide and his whole body was frozen. I guess I have the talent of scaring guys away.

"What?" he continued to stare at me.

I threw a pillow directly at his face and he snapped out of his daze.

He shakes his head, "Anyway, do you want to do anything today?," he looks down at his at watch, "we probably have 3 hours before it's night."

"Honestly I wanted to order pizza and have a Netflix night."

"That's literally what you do all the time, but whatever, cheese?"

I nod my head and turn on the tv, and Mason sits down next to me.

An hour later we have warm pizza on our laps, black peel-off face masks glued onto our face, and  we're watching "To All the Boys I've Loved Before " (my choice of course).

My alarm goes off saying it's time to take off the painful masks. I jump up and paused the movie, Mason throws his pizza back into the box and he trails behind me into the bathroom.  He jumps up onto the counter and sits there with his eyes closed.

"What are you doing?" I ask putting my face into the mirror trying to find the right place to start peeling.

He mumbles, "It's so hard to talk with this thing on, and also can you take it off for me?"

Oh Mason, I'm going to make this the most painful experience of your life...

With one pull, the whole things rips off his face. His hands immediately come up to his face and before I know it he's running around like a mad man. I'm laughing with I (gently) take mines off. I walk back into my room with Mason right in the position he was for the movie with his hand soothing his face.

"Painful huh?"

"Fuck you Clarkson."

*the next day*

"Mason, we have been on this hiking trail for hours, can we stop now?" the sun was beating against my skin and sweat was dripping off my nose.  We were following this dirt trail and I have no idea where we are going.

"Stop whining, you're supposed to be a tiger." he turns back to me and flexes his gorgeous muscles and turns back around. Bitch .

What seems for another thirty minutes, we are finally at the top of the hill. The view was beautiful, but it would be better if I wasn't dying. I sit down on the ground and take a huge breathe.

"Alright, let's head back down." Mason starts to walk back where we just came from.

"No!" Oof, that took  a lot of energy to yell, "I don't wanna leave yet, you didn't even get to take in the view." Mason just replies with a sigh and gravel moves as he sits down next to me.

We sit in silence for a while

"Mason...why me?"

"What do you mean?" he looks at me.

"I was just a girl to you that hit you and your bike, how and why did we end up here? Everything that happened between us seemed like a blur." It was true. Even though it's been about three months of really knowing Mason we seemed to click with each other so fast.

"The gang mostly. Probably." I don't know why I feel so disappointed with that answer, but I guess it's true. I make a mmm sound and there's silence again. I open my mouth again.

"You know you were the only person who would actually hang out with me, Melony became distant, nobody at school liked me for a while, and yet there you were. Riding to school with me, eating food with me, singing in the car with me."

"What can I say? I'm a good ass friend."

"Alright buddy, don't give yourself too much credit." I looked into his eyes, and the sunset was painted on top of his light brown eyes.

"Oh by the way, I have somebody coming over tonight." he snapped out of our stare and started to get up.

"Who is it?  A girl or a boy?"

"A girl."

Great.
