Chapter 4-The betrayal

Nya pov

Kai had arrived with Skylor by a cave. Where they both seemed to be unsettled by something. "Kai, what's wrong?" Kai seemed to look at me before he spoke. "We're the last elemental masters in the tournament right now. But we have an idea off what Chen's planning to do with the elements. We just need to be able to stop him before he can succeed." I looked at Garmadon and he looked down before he spoke. "Then we must act quickly. If you two know what he's planning to do, then you no doubt know the best way around. We must act fast, Lloyd will have to find and free the others while we distract." I notice Kai and Skylor looking at each other before they look back. "So, shall we get going then." With a nod from the others, we head out.

As we arrive. Skylor leaves with Garmadon and Lloyd while I head of with Kai. As we arrive at an area, Kai stops and turns before throws a fireball at me. I dodge and look at him. "Why would you do that Kai?" I then notice something different about Kai. He laughs and steps forward before he speaks. "You should've believed Garmadon when he thought I was working for Chen." He finished with a smirk and I gasped in shock before I replied. "You were the spy!" "One of the spies to be exact dear sister. The other has led Lloyd right into a trap while Garmadon must deal with Clouse. And I get to bring you down and present you to Chen himself." I look at him before I charge forward. This was going to be tough, but Kai's fire would be no match for my water. I leap into the air before I land and kick him back. I leap back as Kai throws a fireball. The fireball landing where I stood before. I fired a burst of water and jumped to the side as Kai threw several fireballs. Upon landing on the ground, I look at him and smile before I speak. "If you work for Chen, then you must really high up, your elemental powers giving you the only reason to be so high." Kai laughed and then charged forward. "Yeah, but that's not all, I'm there because of my love for Skylor, his daughter." I leap back and kick him back before I reply. "And so, if Chen's taking all the elements, then what would he do with you once yours is gone. He wouldn't keep you around that high afterward, he might just betray you afterwards." Kai threw several more fireballs in rage before he replied. "He wouldn't, I've been loyal to him for most my life. No way would he betray me." I land to the side and reply. "But he could see no use for you anymore. What if he's been using you, he might just be using Skylor too for all you know." I hear Skylor speak from behind. "How dare you say such a thing." I smirk as I continue. "You know full well that I'm the smartest of the ninja, or second smartest Kai, you know that I know when something's off. And why would Chen keep you around if your best use is gone" I watched as Kai stopped in his steps.

Kai pov

I stopped in my steps. Was Nya right, what if Chen was using me this whole time. I look over at Skylor and she could see the pain in my eyes. "Kai what are you doing?" I walk over to Skylor and speak. "Skylor, I know Nya better then most, and when she sees something, we sees something we don't. Thus Chen can be using us. How much does he care for you for example." Skylor looked down before she replied above a whisper. "He cares for power more then me." I place a hand on her shoulder and continue. "Then Chen won't care what happens afterwards when he gets all the elemental powers. Meaning that we're all that's left to stop him." I watch as Skylor looks up and then looks at Nya before she speaks. "Then we need to get to him fast." I then step forward and speak. "First, let's get Garmadon, because I have a plan."

"So your saying that you were working for Chen and then Nya saw something that neither of you did. I knew I was right the moment you stayed behind at the entrance to the boat. But now's not the time, my son is in danger and we need to save him." I smile and speak. "Then let me go over the plan, I know the best way to where the others are being kept. I can lead you there, Skylor, you and Nya will work on destroying Chen's staff. That way he won't have the elements of the others anymore. But in order to get close enough. Nya, you need to fake that you've betrayed the others and joined up with the winning side, once down. The element of surprise will come into use. So then. Chen's men will be overwhelmed when Garmadon and I arrive with the other elemental masters, rendering him defeated." As we all nod. I look at Garmadon and he nods before we split up. I look at Skylor and speak. "Be careful." "I will be, you need to be careful flame boy" As we walk off in separate directions. I look down and think back. I'll never be able to make it up again to the others.

As we walked along the abandoned halls. I spoke. "Garmadon, I need some advice" Garmadon looks over at me before he replies. "What kind of advice?" "What would do I do to make up for the betrayal I did to the others?" "That is something that I know much about Kai, but for starters. Doing what we're doing right now is the best way to start. The second thing would be to slowly help save Ninjago from whatever threats may come afterwards." I nod and look ahead before I stop. "What's wrong?" "There will be guards. I'll go ahead. You need to sneak by. I'll keep them distracted." Garmadon nods and I walk ahead. As I arrive, a guard looks at me and then speaks. "What does master Chen want now?" I step forward and then speak. "Oh, he just needs you guys to be at the ceremony right now, I'll keep watch over the former elemental masters while your gone." The guards look at each other before they rush out. I look out and then step forward before I drop down and look around. The elemental masters are quick to move in on me. I turn and walk towards the door and look out the small window. Ensuring that no guards are there. I open the door and Garmadon walks in. The elemental masters all stop and I step outside and head down further. Behind me, Garmadon explains what's going on. As I arrive in the ceremony chamber. I notice the guards I sent here had just arrive and Chen wasn't happy. I smirk as Skylor walks up and stops by his side before Nya winks at me. I wink at Skylor and I yell out. "Chen, you forget the forgotten element. The element of surprise." Chen looks over to me before Skylor strikes the staff out of his hands, Nya grabs it and as the elemental masters rush in, Smashes it onto the ground. I leap into the air, before I land next to Skylor and look at Chen. "You betray me, how could you." I look at Skylor and then back at Chen. "Well, thanks to a sister of mine, I knew that she saw something no one else did, and how you cared more about power then your own daughter. Yeah, it's kinda easy to see how we betrayed you, now you're going to be taken in. And Clouse isn't going to come to your aid. Not when he's trapped in the cursed realm now." Chen looks at me in rage before Garmadon lands behind him. With his men down and Clouse gone. His threat over.

I find myself sitting on the wall of Chen's outer walls. Looking out over the ocean heading back to Ninjago. I sigh as I hear a voice behind me. "You don't mind if I join you here?" I turn to see Lloyd standing there. "No, I don't mind at all" Lloyd sits down and then speaks. "Father told me what happened. But I just need to know something. What are you going to do now?" I had been thinking about that and well, to be honest. I was thinking of vanishing from the eyes of Ninjago. Till I felt it was time to return. "To be honest. I don't know. I guess only time will tell."
