Everytime I glanced over at him, I would catch him staring. His eyes were trying to figure me out, watching every move I made from switching my crossed legs to turning my head. I twisted and spun the pen in my hand trying to distract myself from him, only to end up dropping it on the floor.
I watched as it rolled towards his desk, shit. He noticed but pretended like he hadn't spent the last half an hour staring at the side of my head and listened to the teachers lecture. I exhaled deeply and leaned over, swiftly picking up my pen. As I was bringing myself up I saw how he watched my every move once again.
"Do you have a problem?"
He was surprised that I decided to speak to him
"No" his short reply was discomforting as he leaned back, never taking his pupils off of my own
I was tired of his stupid staring game, rolling my eyes I turned to look out the window and watched as the wind carried the tree branches from side to side. Soon enough the sun will be setting and the lights for the carnival will light up
There was no way that Chloe, Olivia nor Blake where going to let me pass up the carnival. Apparently it was like a right of passage into the last year of high school. Maybe for one night I can finally act like a teenage girl that didn't have anything to worry about
Maybe I could, just for an hour or two, forget about everything I'm here for and just relax. I've never been to any school event before because I never had anyone to go with for starters and also because I didn't feel the need to
The bell suddenly rang, signaling a break. I grabbed my book and ended up being the second last person to walk out of the classroom, which left the last person to Hunter. I could feel him walking behind me, eyes burning into my back
Just as I was about to make my way out the door, it was closed in front of me, Hunters outstretched arm leaned against the door and his breath fanned the back of my neck, his muscular chest near touching my back. His familiar scent was overwhelming and I tried desperately to keep my hormones in check.
"What do you want Hunter?" I didn't bother turning around
"This is your last chance Ebony, anything else you want to tell me about you?"
I turned to find his expression blank, eyes searching my face for the lie that I was about to speak
"No Hunter, you already know enough" I went to turn around and twist the handle, only to be stopped, he used his other arm and pushed my stomach back against the wall, my body carelessly being tugged back with it
As if on instinct, I grabbed his hand and twisted it back, adding another knee in his groin to follow
"What the fuck Ebony!"
I found myself breathing heavily from the sudden burst of energy. I haven't been sleeping well lately, only getting around two hours of sleep each night. Guessing it was the adrenaline that kicked in I replied
"Just stay out of my way Hunter"
I hurried past him and successfully shot out of the door
Thankfully I got to my locker, unthankfully I couldn't even open the fucking thing.
"Need a little help there" a recognisable voice spoke from behind me
"Jacob" I said, turning around to face him, I never noticed how different he was to Chase and Hunter. He acted more maturely, although he is still a boy and they all are the same in a way.
"No thanks"
He raised his eyebrows in disbelief, "You need to pull the latch upwards before you put in the digits" Jacob discarded his hand from his jean pocket to fiddle with my locker, opening it effortlessly
