Be Serious

I woke up to my alarm and did my normal routine. I met Sarah at the bus stop. She didn't greet me with her usual 'Up And Ready To Start The Day' smile. "Whats wrong? Zombie eat your smile?" I joked to brake the silence. "No. I feel like I'm the one taking this stuff seriously." She looked stiff, the only thing on her moving was her light her blowing in the wind. I'm pretty sure I'm the one taking all this seriously, I just don't want to seem like the serious one. "No, I'm pretty uneasy too, I just don't want to show it." I smirked

The bus screeched yet again in front of us. As soon as we got on, the well expected gossip, not really gossip but re-told news traveled among the taped up bus seats. We took the same seat we had the day before, as did everyone else. The guys who I was listening to yesterday were talking again. "I told you Trevor! If Bostons a wreck we're going to be soon and-"

"No, This guy is easy to tell from the rest. They'll catch him today probably."

This time I turned around and faced Dominik, he began again.

"Yeah, maybe after he bites people and infects them, then they infect people and it will keep going till everyone is infected! Damnit what don't you understand? They say they have it under control...Do you think anyone can control this?"

It was completely silent as the truth sunk in. Then Trevor spoke, "I don't know." Dominik sighed, shoving his headphones in his ears. The whole back of the bus, for the rest of the ride was completely silent.

The whole school day was filled with zombie related talk, gossip, jokes and news. especially at lunch.

"You know, instead of math we should have a class that teaches us how to kill zombies.." Bria smiled evily at everyone.

"I think they should start building safe houses like filled with food and supplies for when it happens...if it does." Jenna spooned out a scoop of pudding.

"Well we could just carry all your food supplies onto the roof and see how long you can make it." I looked around at everyone. Sarah flashed me a look.

I walked to Social Studies and dropped my books on the desk next to Katy's. Maybe I could talk to her and be serious.

The teached passed out a worksheet and turned the overhead on, pointing to locations on a map, asking occasional questions. I, hoping she wouldn't point to me.

"You know. I'm a bit worried." I started.

"I am too, It seems like everyone thinks its a joke." She whispered.

"Yeah I know, but it seems pretty serious." I whispered back.

"It is serious." she looked me in the eyes.

"I just hope a lot of people don't die from this." I said, fixing my eyes on the map.

"Well the way they talked about, I think it will be more than a lot." I saw her turn to face me, and I looked over.

We looked at eachother for a moment.

"I really hope they control this."

"Me too."
