(F/p/f) means favorite pie flavor.
As Ned smiled at Olive, Chuck, and the customers of his little eatery, he couldn't help but wonder how his girlfriend was. She went out to go see her mom and dad, whom she hadn't talked to in seven years. Ned didn't know how it was going or when she was coming back, but he was hoping it was all going well. He loved (Y/n) with all his heart and he wanted her to always be happy. He never wanted her to be sad, but something was telling him that when she'd return, she wouldn't be very happy like she always was. It may have been his conscious, he didn't know. He did know that if she did come back upset, he'd be happy to cheer her up.
After a few hours of suffering through the company of her parents, (Y/n) returned, but as Ned had suspected, she wasn't happy. She wasn't happy at all. She knew it had been a while since she last talked to her parents, and because of her good heart, she decided it was time to, so for say, reunite. She knew keeping a grudge against her parents would just weigh her down, but being treated horribly would make her feel awful as well.
Quickly walking into the pie shop through the front door, (Y/n) quickly sat down at one of the booths before placing her elbows on the table and head in her hands. Hearing the bell on the door jingle, Olive turned to greet the new customer, but quickly discovered it was a sad looking (Y/n) instead. Her sweet smile disappearing, Olive felt a rush of sympathy toward the girl, knowing what made her upset.
Rushing to the kitchen, Olive greeted Ned and told him that (Y/n) was out in the dining area. Hoping for the best, Ned smiled and asked an important question. "Did she look happy?" He inquired, pausing from an apple pie. Olive slowly shook her head.
"No, Ned, she didn't." Olive told him, her own voice showing sadness. Ned's smile dropped while Olive left to do more orders. Ned promised himself that he would make (Y/n) feel better if he had to and he wasn't going to break that promise.
Taking a plate down from the shelf above him, Ned cut a slice of (f/p/f) pie and placed it on the plate before putting a small amount of whipped cream on top of it as well. After getting a fork, Ned left the kitchen and walked into the dining area where he quickly found the woman he loved, her stature showing she felt disheartened by today's previous events. At the scene laid out before him, he felt his lips go into a deeper frown.
Quickly putting on a small, but caring, smile, Ned walked over to (Y/n) and placed the plate in front of her, causing her to look up. Seeing his small smile just for her, (Y/n) broke into a smile as well. Moving to sit across from her, Ned scooted into the small booth and reached over to take (Y/n)'s hand into his. Her heart nearly melted at Ned's sweet actions, practically making her forget about her parents.
(Y/n)'s POV
"So, what happened?" Ned asks, genuine concern in his voice. I slightly smile, blinking fast growing tears away. "It started out good, we shared a couple laughs, but, uh," I begin, my voice slightly choking. "They started bringing up my life in general and then it was my job and finally my looks. It just all made me feel so horrible, so worthless," Shaking my head, I squeeze Ned's hand in mine before sighing. "Ned, I don't want to go back to them ever again." Just like I had done a few seconds ago, his hand in mine tightens, tugging me forward a little."Hey, look at me." He says. I do so and see his eyebrows furrowed in either sympathy or anger; maybe a combination of both. "Do not believe anything they said about you. You are perfect and amazing in many more ways than one. If they don't like you for who you are, they're stupid and foolish morons." He declares. My sadness quickly disappears as a chuckle emits from my lips at Ned's anger.
"Ned, baby, calm down." I tell him, reaching a hand up to his perfect face. His angry frown then slowly diminishes upon realization that he even had it in the first place before replacing it with a amused smile. "Sorry," He apologizes, even though he doesn't have to. "I just don't like it when your parents think they can judge you for not fitting into their standards," His green eyes lock on mine, never straying away from my gaze. "But you're perfect in your own way," His smile brightens a little. "And I think that's even better."
Smiling, I look down to blink happy tears away. "Thank you, Ned," I say, looking back up at him. "I am so thankful for you," I then look down at the pie and giggle. "I am really thankful for you. Come over here and sit so we can share this." I tell him, now grinning.
Obliging my request, he moves to sit next to me and wraps an arm around my waist to pull me into his side. "I love you." He tells me as I take a bite from the pie slice. Chewing on the food in my mouth, I smile up at him and lightly kiss his lips. "I love you too." I tell him, truly meaning it in every single word.
