"True Love Has Power"~ A Greenflame Story

Chapter Three: The Chimaera

Narration~
Once the ninja had arrived at Ninjago City Arena, there were people flaring all around in a panic. One of them ran straight to them and said there was a huge animal inside, but didn't get to say anything else because of all the alarm in the area.

Kai's Point of View~
"An animal doesn't sound like that much of any trouble." Said Jay. "Unless it's something like a big predator which can send people into a panic." Said Zane. "Well, whatever it is, let's go check it out." Said Lloyd, running to the entrance. We all followed and stopped dead in our tracks when we saw what animal was put before our eyes. "Oh my God! What in the name of Garmadon is that thing?!" Jay yelled in terror. The creature had the head and body of a lion, but had a goat's head on it's back and a snake for a tail. It turned it's heads in our direction and growled. The snake hissed and the goat deeply bleated. "Zane, can you analyze that thing?!" Asked Cole taking out his scythe. "On it! Pixal, can you scan it and tell us what it is?" He replied. As Zane was analyzing the creature, it made its way toward us. "Based on the data analysis, this thing is an ancient Greek Mythological being called 'The Chimaera'. It's a hybrid of a lion, goat, and snake!" Said Zane. The chimaera pounced at us with its claws sticking out. "Woah! How do we stop this thing?!" Yelled Lloyd. "We have to pierce its heart!" Shouted Zane. "Pierce it's heart?! How are we even going to get close to that thing?!" I shouted. "Find a way to!" Yelled Nya. We all used our elemental powers on it, but nothing worked. The chimaera spewed fire from its mouth and things were beginning to go up in flames, but Nya and Zane used their powers to put the flames out. It swatted a giant paw at Cole and roared, knocking him back. But before it could deliver the final blow, Jay stepped in between and used his lightning to keep it back. "Thanks, I owe you one." Said Cole. "Don't sweat it." Says Jay. The chimaera charged at Lloyd and knocked him down to the ground. Then it turned back around and the snake stuck it's head out and opened it's mouth wide. "Lloyd! Watch out for the snake! It has a poisonous bite that's extremely dangerous!" Yelled Zane. But before the snake could make an attack, Lloyd quickly rolled out the way and threw a bright green orb of energy at the snake. The chimaera took a few steps backward before turning its heads to me. Its eyes stared straight into my own. I was hesitant and couldn't think of what to do. And before I knew it, the lion paced at me then pounced onto my chest. It had completely pinned me down. I tried to raise my arms and legs, but it was no use. "Kai!!" I could hear the others scream. I was beginning to panic. Then, slowly appearing from behind, was the snake. It's tongue flickering as it moved closer to my neck. I was breathing heavily and quickly. I didn't know if it was gonna bite me or not. I felt as if I was staring at death in the face, I thought I gonna die right then and there. I saw from the side of the creature that everyone else was trying to get past and help, but every time they tried making a move, the snake shot upright in front of them. It's jaw wide open. The goat bleated in a demonic way and sounded like something right out of a horror movie. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain throughout my chest. I realized that the lion's claws were puncturing my skin pretty bad. Then it quickly slid its claws-filled paw down my right arm and the goat head bit my left one. I screamed in pain as they continued to scratch and bite.

Lloyd's Point of View~
The chimaera pounced onto Kai and pinned him down. We were trying to get past the snake to help him, but it kept going from side to side before we could pass. And every time we tried, it hissed and its jaw hung down and it's long fangs were shown. I heard Kai scream and I saw the lion and goat attack him at his arms. "Kai!" I shouted. I summoned a big ball of energy and threw it at the snake's head causing it to turn its head in the opposite direction and we were able to pass it. Cole and Jay grabbed the goat's horns and Zane and Nya pried it's mouth shut. I threw another energy ball at the lion and it backed off growling. It glared at me and on the side of its face was a burnt mark. The chimaera then took off like a speeding bullet. I turned back to Kai and he was badly injured with claw and bite marks on his chest and arms. And he was bleeding quite vigorously. "Kai!" I yelled as I ran to his side. "Someone call an ambulance!" I ordered. Cole dialed down 911 and answered to the dispatcher on the other line. "You're gonna be okay Kai. You're gonna be okay." I said as tears started to come down my face. "Lloyd..." I heard him whisper before closing his eyes. The emergency responders rushed over and put Kai on the gurney. Zane and Nya explained what had happened to the police officers and said they would be on guard for anything. We all piled into the ambulance and drove quickly to the hospital. Kai was immediately rushed to the Emergency Room. The doctor told the rest of us to wait outside of the room. I was really worried about Kai. Memories came flooding back in my mind. Flashbacks of mere moments ago of that thing pressing on his chest, then digging into his skin. Hearing him scream, I could see it as if I actually went back in time and witnessed it all over again. I saw myself flinching at the snake every time I made a move. A wave of guilt washed over me and I clutched my head. I gritted my teeth in anger, sadness, and shame. I felt ashamed of myself because I couldn't do anything to help Kai as the lion tore his chest and arm. I felt tears form in my eyes and a lump in my throat. I let out a shaky sigh. Then, a few minutes later, a nurse called us in. She escorted us to Room 16, and let us in. And therein bed, with bandages wrapped around his arms and chest, was Kai and his eyes were closed.
