"Rory do we have any coffee?" I stand up from the couch and walk into the kitchen.
"No, mom took it all to work with her." Rory calls from the living room.
"Ughh but I neeeed coffeeee." I complain, and grab a jacket. "I'm going to the inn, you coming?"
"Nah, I'm going to Lukes first but I'll probably meet you there." She replies, turning off the TV and grabbing her shoes.
"Okay, see you later."

"Hey Michel do you know where my mom is?" I ask, resting my arms on the counter.
"I do not care for where she is, I just care for the fact that your arms are resting on the mail." He replies in a dry tone, not even looking up from the contacts book. "Try the kitchen." He sighs, when he sees I haven't moved.
"Thanks, Michel!" I call, pushing through the kitchen doors.
"Mommm!" I complain. "Why don't we have any coffee in the houseeee." I walk behind her and Sookie and straight to the coffee pot.
"Oh sorry hon, I had to come in early so I just took it with me." She says, taking a sip from her mug.
"Yes, but you took all of it." I rub my eyes out of tiredness.
"Yes, but I am the coffee master, and all of the coffee in the world belongs to me." She jokes.
"Well I'm the daughter of the coffee master therefore I have rights to the coffee." I say, laughing slightly.
"Anyways, are you excited for tomorrow sweets?" Sookie asks, clapping her hands together.
"More excited than ever! Mrs Kim's letting Lane and Riv come out with us all in the morning!" I say enthusiastically.
"And we're having a party at our place too, so be there at seven oclock sharp!" Mom points at Sookie with a wooden spoon.
"It must be great having your birthday in half term, mine was always on a school day." Sookie blabbers on about her birthday and school before my grandmother bursts through the doors of the kitchen, Michel following behind her.
"Y/n Victoria Gilmore you had no right to act the way that you did last week, running out like that! You have put shame on the Gilmore name!" Grandma starts, and I don't really listen after that bit, until Mom grabs my arm.
"It is not her fault Mom! If you could be in her position, will all of her nerves about the dinner and making a good impression you would've had a panic attack too when your grandmother attacked your family!"
The room is silent for a minute.
"See you tonight, seven o clock sharp." She pauses for emphasis. "You will not be late, Lorelai." If her hair was longer, she would've tossed it over her shoulder, but instead she just struts out of the inn, Michel stifling a laugh as he pours himself coffee.
"It's not funny, Michel!" I say loudly, and his laughter seems become more and more.
"Okay, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna see Rory's at Luke's." I sigh.
"Okay, just avoid grandma at all costs!" Mom claps on each word.
"Got it." I kiss her cheek and wave to Sookie, before exiting the inn myself.

I walk past the gazebo in the middle of the town when I am stopped by Babette.
"Hiya doll, could you do us a favour?" She asks, speaking loudly as usual.
"Hey Babette! Yeah sure, what's up?"
"Morey and I just got a new baby, her names Apricot!" She gushes over her new cat, as the previous one had just died.
"Yay that's amazing!" I reply, trying to be enthusiastic about my crazy neighbours new pet.
"Anyway, we were wondering if you and Rory could go and babysit her tonight? We're in New York and it'll be her first night alone and-"
"We'd love to Babette. My parents are staying at the diner tonight to organise some of my baby stuff so I won't really be missing much." I laugh and she thanks me before we go our separate ways.
I enter the diner, and immediately spot Rory.
"Hey." I go and sit beside her at the counter, breathless. "Oh, by the way, we're babysitting Babette and Morey's new cat tonight, is that okay?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's fine, I've got a crapload of homework to do anyways." She sighs, flipping through her notebook.
"Coffee?" I ask, and jump over the counter.
"Must you ask?" She laughs, as I make a fresh pot of coffee. Dad yells at me probably for the hundredth time not to go behind the counter, because apparently his insurance company doesn't cover for the daughter, even though I protest daily that it should. He grabs the back of my shirt and pushes me out from behind the counter, making me trip slightly. I feel a pair of arms catch me, and feel kind of grossed out cos I think it's Kirk.
"Woah, nearly died there, didn't you?" The boy laughs. I look up and give a confused smile.
"Parker?" I laugh, and Rory's jaw drops.
"As in... Parker Dugray?" Rory asks, sceptical.
"Yeah, but trust me, I'm nothing like my brother." He laughs. I stand up straight to see Dad glaring at him.
