You looked around the room where you entered the house, Coraline standing beside you. It looked run down, the fading baby blue paint chipping away at the walls. She grimaced in distaste as she glanced around her. The wooden table sat in the middle of the kitchen, barely making it feel like a decent home. Both Coraline's and your parents brought the boxes in and separated them into the rooms based on who they belonged to and which room they were staying in.

You and Coraline were sharing a room as to give both your parents their room since there was three. Since Coraline wanted to go find the old well she heard about, you two set out to find it as your parents started unpacking.

"Don't be out too late!" Your mother called as you headed out the door.

"We won't mom!" You replied before closing the door.

Sighing softly, you both walked out. You passed by this bush and she grabbed a branch before removing the pink leaves from it. Going through the dead garden, over the bridge, you both went down the trail, up to the side of a hill.

Passing by some bushes, you heard movement. Coraline grabbed a rock and threw it where the sound came from. The bushes merely rustled a bit, making her scream as you both ran to the clearing.

When you did, you both looked around, before a cat jumped out onto a tree trunk, meowing, making her scream, you jumping a bit.

"You scared me to death, you mangy thing!" She huffed, glaring at the cat.

"I'm just looking for an old well... Know it?" She asked, and the cat merely blinked.

"Not talking, huh?" She asked before she walked away, you  trailing behind her. You two walked to the clearing that was nearby, and conveniently where the old well was said to be. Coraline rose the branch, standing in the middle of some strangely placed mushrooms that was in a large circle.

"Magic dowser, magic dowser... Show me, the well!" She called out, holding out the branch. The wind blew, and suddenly, loud honking was heard as a bright light shone on you two. You looked up, hearing a boy hollering as he rose his arm up, bringing his motor bike up to do a wheelie before bringing it down, driving towards you both at a rather terrifying speed in the weather you were in.

"Ahh! Get away from me!" Coraline screamed, moving out of the way before stumbling into mud, you jumping out of the way and falling on your butt, making you grunt from the impact. The boy stopped his motor bike, holding the branch Coraline had as he was looking at Coraline first, twisting the handle on his mask a couple of times before looking at you. He seemed to look at you for a rather long time before snapping out of it, taking off his mask to reveal his face.

He was a light chocolate brown, with curly brown hair and brown eyes to match. He has a slight hunch, making his head lower as if he was getting scolded and felt shameful. Though he did look pretty cute.

"Let me guess, you're from Texas or Utah, someplace dried out and barren, right? I've heard of water witching before, but it just doesn't make sense. I mean, it's just an ordinary branch." He stated, studying the branch closely. That voice. You now strangely wanted him to say your name. You stood up, dusting yourself off with a soft sigh.

"It's a dowsing rod." She corrected before hitting him and grabbing the branch again.

"Ow!" He said, holding the place she hit him at.

"And I don't like being stalked, not by psycho nerds or their cats!" She seethed openly.

"He's not really my cat. He's kind of feral. You know, wild. Of course, I do feed him every night, and sometimes he'll come to my window and bring me little dead things." He admitted, petting the cat as he smiled.

"Look, I'm from Pontiac." She admitted.

"Huh?" He tilted his head to the side, confused.

"Michigan. And if I'm a water witch, then where's the secret well?" She stomped her foot down, leaning forward for a second.

"You stomp too hard and you'll fall in it." He said, looking down at the muddy ground where she stood.

"Oh!" She jumped and rushed backward, getting out of the circle of mushrooms.

"See?" He asked, brushing off some mud.

"It's supposed to be so deep, if you fell to the bottom and looked up, you'd see a sky full of stars in the middle of the day." He added, getting a large stick and putting it under a small opening to raise the door of the well, making the rest of the mud roll off of it to reveal a wooden door before he let it drop down.

"Ha." Coraline softly muttered, smiling gently.

Your P.O.V

"Surprised she let you move in. My grandma, she owns the Pink Palace. Won't rent to people with kids." Wybie admitted.

"What do you mean?" Coraline wondered.

"Ah, I'm not supposed to talk about it... I'm Wybie. Wybie Lovat." He introduced, shaking her hand before shaking mine. He got mud on our hands and she grimaced a little.

"Wybie?" She repeated, both of us wiping off the mud from our hands.

"Short for Wyborne. Not my idea, of course. What'd you get saddled with?" He wondered, glancing at her for a second as he pet the cat.

"I wasn't saddled with anything. It's Coraline." She responded.

"Caroline what?" He pet the cat more as they went in a circle around him, rubbing his legs.

"Coraline. Coraline Jones." She said, emphasizing her first name.

"It's not real scientific, but I heard an ordinary name like Caroline can lead people to have ordinary expectations about a person." He told her, looking around him as the cat circled him before scooping them up in his arms, making Coraline growl in annoyance.

"How about you?" Wybie looked at me and I smile.

"My name's (Y/n)." I introduced.

"(Y/n) what?" He asked.

"(Y/n) (L/n)."

"Hm, I didn't get a chance to research a name like (Y/n) yet, but I'm sure it's a name that means something really nice about you." I felt myself blush as Coraline scoffed, rolling her eyes. I giggle softly, smiling more as I look at Wybie as I felt my face heat up.

"Wyborne!" A lady called out from the distance.

"I think I heard someone calling you, Wyborne." Coraline said, scowling a little.

"What? I didn't hear anything." He said, nervously looking around, fidgeting and turning away to avoid eye contact.

"I definitely heard someone, Why-Were-You-Born." Coraline snarkily said, walking closer to him a bit.

"Coraline!" I scolded, huffing softly as I slightly glared at her, her returning the gesture before sighing.

"Wyborne!" The lady called again.

"Grandma! Well, great to meet a Michigan water witch, but I'd wear gloves next time." He told her, glancing at the branch she held in her hands as she kept hitting one of her hands with it. (Like Baldi in Baldi's Basics with his ruler.)

"Why?"

"'Cause that dowsing rod of yours, it's poison oak." He said, pulling his mask down and driving away on his motor bike.

"Ah!" She threw it down and started wiping her hands on her yellow raincoat. I looked at her, shaking my head a little and giggled as she softly scoffed.

"You seem to like that stalker." She pointed out. I felt myself blushing as I shook my head.

"What? N-no! Of course not." I denied, though knowing she wouldn't believe me.

"Then why are you blushing when I say you like him?" She confronted.

"B-because... You're making me embarrassed by putting me on the spot." I retorted, tilting my head up a bit as I kept my arms crossed to show that I was 'offended' by the confrontation. She giggled, nodding.

"Uh-huh, sure. Come on, let's go back home." Coraline said as she nodded towards the Pink Palace. I nodded, chuckling softly.

"Alright, Coraline."
