The Destiny Guard - The Power Team Of The East

This Monday, China announced the formation of a brand-new Power team, which will be known as the Destiny Guard.

The team, backed by several governments from South and East Asia, was first proposed back in 2096 by China's defence minister An Shan after UK's official team, the Knights of Avalon, was announced.

"The world is constantly evolving, those that doesn't adapt will be left behind," stated An Shan in the Third International Conference of Asian Development (ICAD3) last year, "With the increasing number of Power heroes and teams operating in the West, Asia needs its own protectors."

It is true that in recent years, more and more Powers have begun operating as vigilantes ever since Grey Hood first appeared in 2091. For the first time since the Incident in mid-2088, world governments properly acknowledged the presence of the Powers in society, with the US, Germany, Brazil, Australia and the UK, also known as the Hood Five, collectively legalised Powered vigilantism under the Grey Hood Act of 2092. Many countries later followed suit.

The Act allowed vigilantism to be practiced if the person follow a given set of rules and hold a licence issued by the International Organisation of Powered Vigilantism (IOPV). The Rules, set by the IOPV, are made to limit collateral damage, property damage and the loss of life. There have been debates on whether the Rules are effective enough ever since the Trian case, where the Trian Building was partially destroyed following a Powers fight.

The Grey Hood Act also enabled the formation of Power teams, where vigilantes band together into an organisation to more effectively combat threats. The first team officially announced themselves in the media in 2094 was the Freedom Force. First independent, they became America's national team after being sponsored by the government.

The team, currently comprised of a roster of six members (Grey Hood, Eagle, Apostle, Steel Patriot, Zoom and Red Blade) are incredibly popular worldwide, its formation led to national teams like the Knights of Avalon and the Mutants being created.

However, Powered vigilantism had not been officially legalised in Asia with the exception of Japan before 2097 when members of ICAD decided to implement versions of the Grey Hood Act in the ICAD3.

The Destiny Guard, although primarily sponsored by the Chinese government, is backed by India, South Korea, Philippines, Pakistan and Singapore, with its members being from China, India and South Korea. Its current roster is comprised of five members: Monk, Gold Star, Monkey King, Chakra and Bulgasari.

Grey Hood, a founding member of the Freedom Force of America, stated that he is "hopeful but wary" when asked to comment.
