The next day, Haylie and Ron told Hermione on what the two best friends had found out yesterday. However, their other best friend had been skeptical about Ron and Haylie's claims

"It can't be Hagrid," said Hermione. "It just can't be.

"We don't even know this Tom Riddle," said Ron. "He sounds like a dirty, rotten snitch to me."

"The monster had killed somebody, Ron," said Haylie. "What would any of us have done?"

"Look. Hagrid's our friend. Why don't we just go and ask him about it?"

"That'll be a cheerful visit!" Ron said sarcastically. Unknown to the trio, Hagrid was coming up from behind. "Hello, Hagrid! Tell us, have you been setting anything mad and hairy loose in the castle lately?"

"Mad and hairy?" said Hagrid, causing the kids to jump. THey looked at the taller man. "You wouldn't be talking about me now, would ya?"

Haylie, Ron, and Hermione shook their heads.

"No," they said. Haylie wanted to change the subject.

"W- what's that you've got, Hagrid?" Haylie said, gesturing to the bucket Hagrid had.

"Oh, It's a- Flesh-Eatin' Slug Repellent. For the Mandrakes, ya know," Hagrid said. "Now, accordin' to Professor Sprout, they've still got a bit o' growing up to do. But, once their acne's cleared up, we'll be able to chop 'em up and stew 'em, and then we'll get those people down at the hospital un-Petrified. In the meantime, though, you three had best be lookin' after yourselves. All right?" The trio of kids nodded, watching Hagrid walk away. However, Pavarti was running up to them as Hagrid disappeared into the crowd.

"Haylie! Hermione!" Parvati cried. "I don't know who did it, but you'd better come! Come on!"

The quartet ran to Gryffindor Tower into Hermione, Haylie, Parvati , and Lavender's dorm, where they saw the room was a mess. Panic entered Haylie as she went through the messed up papers

"It had to be a Gryffindor. Nobody else knows our password- unless it wasn't a student," said Hermione. Ron was standing at the door, knowing full well that something bad happened if a boy entered a girl's room.

"Whoever it was, they must have been looking for something," said Hermione.

" And they found it," said Haylie. She looked at Hermione and Ron. "Tom Riddle's diary is gone."

Parvati told Hermione and Haylie for two reasons:

1) It would be weird if Neville told this to Haylie, because that would mean he went into the girls dorm room.

2) Pavarti was Hermione's roommate, along with Lavender
