The dark night radiated with a million bright twinkling stars. The full moon reflected upon the Nantucket waters as its rays shined upon the coastal beaches. The evening's calmness was the perfect end to the perfect day.
Having changed out of the magnificent gown that Jack had surprised her with, Jackie wore a light blue spaghetti strap sundress, low white heels and the gold snake bracelet Jack had given the previous night at dinner.
The day had been so incredibly overwhelming and full of emotion and joy, Jackie couldn't stop smiling. Her eyes glowed and smile brightened the room as she sat in the study reflecting on the day waiting for Jack, who had continued to be mysterious in his actions telling her, "wait her kid, I'm not done with you yet."
Jackie couldn't possibly image anything more perfect than the day they had just celebrated together. Her heart pounded as she relived the words, the looks, the tears of joy they had exchanged. Jack still hadn't told her how he managed to pull it all off and surprise her but she really didn't care. The fact that he went through all that trouble for her and keep it private and intimate, meant more to her than any other thing he had ever done.
After so many years of struggle to make their marriage as magical in private as it appeared to the world in public, they had finally reached a place of complete wholeness, full commitment and total admiration. They truly enjoyed each other, they had fun together and they understood each other completely and well, she blushed as she thought about it, the sex was incredible.
Jack hadn't always been very attentive to her needs in the bedroom, always one to fulfill his needs, rollover and go to sleep but in the last few years, he had begun to open up to her. There was a new found passion they had struggled to attain. His romantic side had begun to creep through in extraordinary ways not only in the things he did for her but the things he did to her. It was if their minds, body and soul had merged into one over the last few years. They were now full partners in life, love and politics and nothing made her happier than knowing how much her husband loved her, respected her, admired her and had been so proud of her.
Lost in her day dreaming, Jackie didn't hear the door open as Jack crept up behind her and wrapped his loving arms around her neck, "are you ready Mrs. Kennedy," he whispered.
Jackie jumped as his surprise presence was suddenly upon her, "Jack," she screeched nearly knocking him in the nose as he hands flew up towards his face in fright, "you scared the hell out of me," she laughed. I'm sorry dear, didn't you hear me come in?" he asked.
"No," she giggled, "I was day dreaming about our absolutely perfect day and how much I love you for it," she said turning to kiss his soft lips.
"A perfect day for my perfect wife," he mushed, "I'm so glad it made you happy and even gladder no one ruined the surprise," he said with a snarl.
"How ever did you pull it all off Jack," she questions.
"Well, being the President of the United States, does have its advantages," he said with a smile. "Amazingly enough the absolute hardest part was ensuring that the press didn't get wind of any of it. I wanted today to be about you and I, Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, not the President and First Lady," he continued in an outwardly annoyed tone at how their privacy was so hard to maintain.
Jack always loved to use whatever publicity stunt he could to get votes, often times to Jackie's annoyance as she tried to protect her children from all the media circus that encircled them but he loved to parade them for the cameras, an area of constant conflict and discord between the two of them and Jack's Press Secretary Pierre Salinger.
But Jack had become more sympathetic to Jackie's desire for privacy as of late and he wanted today to be about them and not the world watching.
"I loved every moment of today Jack and I love you!" Jackie replied.
