Chapter Four: My Assistant (Part Two)
{ Vale }

"You don't remember any of it?" I asked.

She shook her head, "No...my brother James and I were only like 6 or so when our parents moved us away."

"The Kirkshaw clan..." I sighed, "well I am the youngest of 6 kids altogether... it was Rich, he's no longer with us, Ashton, we call him Ash and that's actually who we're going to see...uh, Brooke and Briar...they're twins, Then it's my sister Everest She goes by Evie, and then there's me."I said.

"Sounds like a lot."

I chuckled, that's not even the half of it...I have 2 sister in laws: Nicole and Flora, and three brother in laws: Randall, Kenneth, and Titus."

"Graystone?!" She asked surprised.

I nodded, "Yeah, Lady Everest Graystone is my sister Evie..."

"The Graystones have children don't they?"

"Yes, three...twin boys and a daughter...and I have one nephew from my brother Rich and five from my brother Ash."

"That's amazing..." She smiled, "I've always dreamed of a big family.

"Can I ask you something Jessa...if it's too private just say so..."

She nodded her consent.

"Have you not met your mate yet?" I asked.

She looked down and sighed, "Yes but no...it's complicated."

"Well I don't want to pressure you into talking about it." I said feeling like I was being too nosey now.

"No...it's good to talk about it, helps me remember him." She said with a sad smile.

"When I was nineteen, this family moved into the pack, nothing had really changed, then one day as I was walking home from a class I was taking at the local college I was almost drawn to go to this store...and mind you I walked past that store everyday for the past year and never felt like that." She admitted.

She shook her head, "To be honest It kinda freaked me out so instead of going in I just stood outside and looked in like a weirdo, there was this handsome guy with dark hair and super blue eyes, He looked up at me and smiled...being the socailly awakeard mess that I am, I freaked out at him catching me looking at him and I literally ran away...my wolf cried for her mate but I was too chicken shit...The next day the same thing happened only I didn't look in...this happened for a week straight, walking past the store feeling this tug to go in and then I finally mustered up the courage to just go in, to follow this pull that the store suddenly had."

She took her time to collect herself.

"That afternoon I thought only about the boy I had seen, I can still rememer the way my wolf had purred in pure adoration as she confirmed that he was my mate....I walked in and immediately could feel nothing." She continued.

"The guy behind the register asked me if I needed anything and I asked about the guy, they told me it was his day off but gave me his name, of course being a small town I already knew where they lived...still feeling bold I went home, got as pretty as I could before I headed over to his house to introduce myself."

I could feel that this story wasn't going to end well.

"There was no one home, I went home and tried again the next day, the next day someone answered, I'll never forget his mothers face, blood shot eyes, tear stained face, I asked about her son and she broke down...turns out he was in a car accident that killed not only him but another guy from town, a co-worker of his."
