Chapter: Sixteen

Chapter Sixteen: Stranger
{ Vale }

In the days that passed since coming home I used my free time to text Shelby...but I had to admit it was more than a little odd as I was essentially texting a stranger...albeit a stranger I had strong feelings for.

[Vale: I miss you...how're you doing?]

[Shelby: I'm good, had an appointment today, found out what I'm having.]

I was excited for her.

[Vale: Care to Share?]

[Shelby: The doctor confirmed that it's a girl, I'm so excited...you don't know how bad I wanted a baby girl.]

I smiled.

[Vale: Well i'm happy so long as you are happy, and healthy.]

[Vale: Can't wait for you to come over, then we can start decorating a nursery together.]

[Shelby: You really are too Good Vale Kirkshaw.]

[Shelby: aren't you busy though...don't want to take up too much of your time.]

[Vale: Never too busy for you.]

Of course Wex would also walk in at that moment needing to talk to me.

I placed my cellphone face down on my desk and gave him my full attention. "Hey man what's up?'

He opened his mouth to speak but I got three texts back to back and we both looked at the phone before look at one another, "You need to get that?" He asked.

Once again I looked at the phone, of course I had the urge to pick up the phone and read Shelby's texts, just then anoither one came but I shook my head, "No it can wait, what's up?"

"I wanted to go over the security detail for Jessa's dance tomorrow night."

I nodded, while we don't have any major enemies and no signs of rogues have been spotted recently... we always take extra care in making sure everyone in the pack is safe over anything else...more so since we'd also have some of our allies over.

We talked about the details and the appointed guard members who would be on watch for the evening.

As we were finishing up my phone buzzed again to remind me I had unread Messages.

"you're blowing up man." Wex mentioned.

I nodded and looked at him, I needed to talk to someone and he was just as good as anyone...I couldn't tell Nico without him making a big deal out of it plus he'd tell Claire as she's his mate and Shelby hadn't given the go ahead on telling them yet.

Couldn't bring myself to say anything to Jessa just yet so I looked at him.

"Wex I'd consider us friends...right?" I asked for clarification.

He nodded and I continued.

"I just have to get this off my chest but I don't want anyone knowing just yet so this has to stay between us." I said as I got up to close my office door.

Once again he nodded, and I gestured for him to sit down the chair opposite mine.

"Everything good Vale?" He wondered with obvious suspicion as he looked at me now.

"I found my mate...When I went to Nico's wedding..."

"Your Mate...?" He sounded a little perplexed, his brows pulled together as he seemed to be thinking about something, then noticed my looking at him and he offered me a smile, "Dad's gonna be thrilled to know we'll finally have a Luna."
