AN: hi! i haven't updated in a verryyyy long time because i honestly had no ideas. i've been reading a lot of other books so i'm hoping some inspiration has been sparked inside me. but i'm always happy to have some ideas! please leave some :) special thanks to hwbones for reminding me about this book! enjoy :)
The ice cream was delicious. It was surprisingly amazing, as the parlour itself was run down and need of a paint job. I think they came here a lot, they were all on first name basis with the staff. When we had sat down Jackie and Alex bombarded me with questions, before being told by Christian to knock it off.
"Soooooo, Dannie, can I call you that? How old are you?" Alex asked.
"Nine-teen, you guys?"
"Same," they all said in unison. "Do you go to Sundale?" Alex continued.
"Uh no, Caniwood High?"
"No way! My brother goes there."
"Oh? What's his name?"
"Jeremy Gastoni," she paused, "do you know him? I thought you looked familiar." My heart dropped.
"You could say I knew him," I murmured, "Please don't tell him anything about meeting me." I pleaded, chewing my lip anxiously. I felt Christian tense beside me, mumbling something under his breath. Alex's face darkened. Jackie, however, was oblivious to the tension, and was happily devouring his ice cream. (A.N. same jackie) The table fell into silence, thick with tension. Great, I'd done it again, making everything depressing. I looked down at my lap, and I tried to avoid any eye contact with the trio.
"Uh, guys? What happened? We were just having a conversation and you just stopped like, a uh, stop sign!" Jackie asked.
"We wanted to uh see how long all of us could be quiet, looks like ya ruined it,
Jackie." I joked, in an attempt to cheer everyone up. Jackie pouted and Alex and Christian laughed. I sighed relieved, I fixed it. Hopefully they forgot. I don't want to cause them any trouble. I sat back and watched as the three talked and laughed, a small smile etched onto my face, I felt light, weightless even, all of my problems were with the clouds.
"Well, I should probably head home now," Jackie sighed, "it's almost 7, I should have been back half an hour ago. My folks are gonna kill me." He groaned. My eyes widened.
"Shit," I muttered, "I need to go, I have to get home." I stopped talking and sunk back into my thoughts. Should I go back? What if I didn't go back until they passed out into a drunken mess. Maybe that would be safer. They won't be drunk in the morning. It won't be as brutal. I guess all my thoughts were being displayed on my face because they were all watching me, worriedly.
"Is it," Christian paused, "okay for you to go home?" I froze, slightly off guard.
"Uh, yeah, why wouldn't it be, uh okay?" I sputtered. I can't have them worrying. Christian's eyebrows furrowed.
"How about you come over and stay at mine tonight?" Christian said, more of a statement than a question.
"No, really I can't-" I said.
"C'mon, just some time to calm down after...today," Alex cut me off, "Look, I'll come too."
"It'd be nice but really, I can't." I apologised, pleading them with my eyes not to ask me again. They both deflated in defeat.
"Aww I was looking forward to a sleepover." Jackie whined.
"Sorry," I mumbled, "thank you guys so much." I gathered my energy and got up, forcing a smile onto my face. With a quick wave of my hand, I began to head home, as quickly as possible.
