Ch.8- A Home Cooked Meal

The walk home to the all too familiar apartment building was quiet for Midoriya Izuku. The evening was cooling off nicely and the few people out were enjoying themselves in the good spring weather.

All seemed right in the world at this moment, and Izuku happily anticipated his short but much needed weekend at home with his mother. It had been much too long since the last time he saw her.

Sure the semester had started only two weeks ago (though to him it felt more like 2 months since this little adventure started), but since all UA students lived at the dorms, going home was not as frequent as it used to be.

He was excited for it all: the food, movies, and talks that he would have with her.

However, much like how things usually went for Midoriya Izuku, something unplanned and unexpected seemed to pop up when he least expected it.

As he was pausing at a crosswalk, his eye caught onto a figure standing in the middle of the road, arms outstretched and face unusually calm for the situation unfolding in front of them.

The blaring sounds of a truck's horn were eventually what made him drop his take home bag and sprint into the street himself. Soon the familiar green lightning shot through his veins and without a second to spare, he snagged the psycho who had been hoping to get hit by a car.

Finally, now that the danger had passed, Izuku glanced down, eyes widening at who exactly he had just saved.

"(L-Last Name)-san!" He screeched and you covered your ears.

"Not now! Crap! I gotta find another truck! I-if I don't I won't be able to test my new hypothesis! And then I won't be able to further experiment and what good is that!"

You dashed away, running back towards the street and the oncoming traffic. Izuku was quick though, and he snagged on you again, this time by your arm and pulled you back.

"What are you doing! You'll get hurt!"

"You don't think I know that!" You barked at him, shoving him off of you. "I have to do this now though! If I don't then I'll never know and I need to know!"

Izuku's eyes widened, realizing what exactly was going on: you were acting erratically. And not like Hatsume erratic because you had some good amazing idea for an invention... no. Your own mind and body seemed to be acting on the same wavelength as Toga Himiko.

"Come on Ordinary Boy! You're interfering with my research! So let me go and if my hypothesis is correct, then I'll tell you a couple hours from now."

"You need to calm down. What happened? Does this have to do with your parents?"

You blinked, now distracted by this idea. You quickly took out your phone and dialed a number. Izuku waited next to you and watched as someone, a male, picked up.

"I'll be home later tonight!" You quickly said and then hung up. "There we go, took care of that."

"(Last Name)-san..." Izuku worried for your mental health. "Please... get a hold of yourself."

"I-I can't this needs to be done now! We have nine days and if it's true then those nine days can become infinite tries and if you or me or any of the others have infinite tries then what's the point in worrying about it!"

You suddenly grabbed onto Izuku and used him as a sort of balance. He kept you firm, sensing that this breakdown of sorts was coming quickly to an end and just in time.
