"Dad this is weird." I said shyly in the front seat of our pick-up truck.

"What is sweet pea?"

"I don't know, this whole going to live with a new family a couple months after mom left."

"Y/n..." my dad said softly placing his hand on my shoulder. "I know it seems so sudden, but I love May. Just as much as I loved your mother."

"I know, I guess that wound is still a little sore."

"I'm sorry if this seems so sudden for you y/n, but mom moved on as soon as she left. We deserve to do the same."

My mother Jenny had an affair on my dad while he was on a business trip. I was the person who told him, because I was the one who caught them. Everything just fell apart after that day. My mom basically disowned me for, "tattling" on her. They got a divorce, and that's why we are here today.

The only good part that came from this whole situation was I got to stay with my dad, and we have become so much closer than we ever were. Sure we have the occasional awkward moments like when he had to have the period talk with me, but we work through it all and everything is perfect.

Today is the day we move in with his new girlfriend May because mom kept the house and basically kicked us out. We've been in an extended stay place for over six months and then dad met May. I'm not entirely sure where they met because I'd rather not go down that road. But she makes him really happy so I guess it makes me happy.

"Alright pea, we are here." My dad said shifting in his seat to face me. I took a deep breath and forced a smile back.

"Everything is fine." He reassured grabbing my cheeks and kissing my forehead.

"God I hope he's right!" I thought to myself stepping out of the truck.

The house was huge. Two stories. Balconies. Pool. Definitely expensive as hell. Not anything I'm used to.

My dad walked around to my side of the truck and draped his arm over my shoulders as he guided me to the door. If he hadn't forced me to I probably wouldn't have started to walk, because this whole situation was already making me anxious.

As he knocked on the front door I couldn't help but notice all the pretty plants placed inside hanging pots by the door way. This place doesn't seem as bad as I thought.

"Mark!" A woman yelled as she jumped onto my dad.

"Did someone miss me?" He laughed kissing her.

I just stood there awkwardly as I have never even met this lady before. They always kept to themselves which I didn't mind, because I don't want to get pulled into HIS love life when mine is nonexistent.

After they were done giggling to themselves she jumped down and gave me a huge bear hug.

"It's so nice to finally meet you!" She pulled away for a moment holding me by my arms, " You're so pretty! Mark she is beautiful!"

"Told you so." He said faking a hair flip. Why am I related to this man?

She was quick to invite us into the house and showed me to my room. My dad had a steady goofy smile plastered all over his face. It was actually nice to see him genuinely excited about something after everything we've been through this year.

"I'm going to go grab a few bags Pea while she shows you the rest." He said before walking away.

"So this is your bathroom." May said super happily as it was completely spotless and clean.

"Wow! Wait, what does that door lead to?" there was a second sliding door across from the one we entered through. Something I've never seen before.

"Oh that door goes to my sons room! You'll meet him tonight when he comes home from his classes. I'm sure you two will get along nicely."

Son? My dad never mentioned anything about a son!

"Oh okay, cool." is all I could form at the fact of sharing a bathroom with a guy, much less a brother I was never told about. "So where is your and dads room?" I questioned getting worried about how far I was going to be from my dad now.

"We are on the second level to the right if you ever need anything. I can show you if you'd like!"

"Sure! This house is huge I'll take as much of a tour as I can get."

Without warning May grabbed my hand and tugged me up the stairs. It was actually kind of cool to have an up beat adult instead of a sneaky one. Although I was being quiet I was taking everything in.

Once we made it to the second level there was a large cut out in the center of the floor which looked over the bottom level. Something you only see out of the movies!

"Your home is very beautiful May."

"Oh please honey call me mom! May makes me feel so old!"

That statement instantly made me feel a certain way. The thought of calling some other woman mom, who wasn't my mom, just didn't sit well with me.

"Oh sweetheart, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean you can't..."

"Its fine, you're not used to it is all." I let out a shaky breath holding back the tears that were threatening to leave my eyes. This is just so weird for me, and I'm not handling it well. I've never been a person who likes change, so this whole year has been the worst.

Once she successfully showed me the entire house I went outside to retrieve some of my things from the truck. I wasn't worried about any of the big things just my clothes to place in the closet before tonight.

I walked back into my new room and stood in the door way. This just doesn't feel like home. Nothing feels natural to me here. My chest began to hurt because I was refusing to cry. Leaning my back against the door, I struggling to stay standing.

Finally I gave in to my heart and slid to the floor covering my face with my hands and quietly crying. Worst timing for my dad to come down that hall because he instantly ran to me.

"Y/n! What's wrong! Did you hurt yourself?"

He never thinks I'm ever upset because it is just something I choose not to show. Being hurt is what he instantly thinks.

But he wasn't that far off.

I was hurting.

My heart was.
