Eren's P.O.V.

It was the day of the female titan confrontation.

"Alright!" an officer yelled. "Line up!"

The scouts going on the mission line up, saluting.

"You should already be aware of your roles. Jaeger, Ackerman, Arlert, you three have the most dangerous job. Try not to die."

"Yes, sir!" we said in unison.

"Dismissed," the officer said and we broke ranks.

Lelia's P.O.V.

If I could pace, I would. Instead, I sat in a chair in the mess hall.

"Stupid broken ankle," I grumbled. I had already read the books I got from the library.

"I'm sure everything will be alright," Christa said.

She was "keeping me company" which basically meant that she was making sure I didn't join the fight.

I sighed and leaned back. "Maybe."

"Worrying about Eren?"

My face went red. "No...I mean yes, but only because I've known him for so long and..."

Christa laughed. "No need to get all flustered. I know you too are together."

"What? How? Why?"

"Your relationship is similar to Ymir's and mine."

"R-really?"

She nodded. "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone."

"Thank you."

There was a silence.

"Are you worried about Ymir?"

Christa stared at nothing for a second. "Yeah, I am."

"She's less likely to die than Eren."

"I guess so."

I sighed. "Sorry for being blunt."

Christa smiled. "No, it's okay."

"Thanks," I said, returning the smile. "It's hard for me to put words together."

There was an awkward silence.

"So," Christa said. "How long have you and Eren been together?"

"A few weeks. What about you and Ymir?"

"About two months," she replied.

"After Trost, right?"

"Yep. How'd the Captain react?"

He was mad to say the least," I said. "He wanted to kill Eren."

"What did he end up doing?"

"He talked to him about it."

"Wow," Christa said. "That's not what I'd thought he do."

"And then gave him stable duty for a week."

"How'd Eren feel about that?"

"He was just happy to be alive and with me."

"That's super cute."

I bushed. "Thanks."

Christa's P.O.V.

Lelia's face was bright red.

 Aww. She really likes him.

Eren's P.O.V.

Blood dripped from my hand as I repeatedly bit it.

"Eren, , no!" Armin said. "stop. It's not working."

Annie had just laughed for the first time ever.

"Just stay here and out of sight. Armin and I will exit on opposite sides. She can only go after one of us. After that, get out of here," Mikasa said.

"But, guys..." I protested.

"Eren, please do this for us. I don't want your reunion with Lelia to be your funeral," Armin said.

"Okay, I'll stay here."

Armin and Mikasa ran towards opposite ends of the hall.

"Lelia," I muttered quietly. "I haven't thought about you since Annie turned into a titan. Is that bad?"

Suddenly, the building was in pieces. I felt a metal rod impale my left shoulder. Blood came out of my mouth.

Lelia's P.O.V.

"You should eat something," Christa said, holding out a piece of bread.

"Not hungry," I muttered.

"Drink something then."

"Maybe later."

"Come on," she was frustrated. "You need to keep your strength up."

"Later..."

"Fine."

I stood up and grabbed my crutches. "I'm going to the library."

"I'll come with you," Christa said, standing up.

I shook my head. "I'd like to go by myself if that's okay...?"

"Okay, just be careful."

"I will."

I hobbled out of the room and towards the library. All my family and most of my friends are risking their lives right now and all I can do is read. What if they die?

I shook my head to get rid of the thought.

"They'll be fine," I said aloud, trying to reassure myself.

But what if they're not?

I shook my head again.

By that time, I had reached the library. I grabbed a book about the history of the scouts from a lower shelf and sat down.

After about two hours of reading, I saw someone enter the room. I looked up and saw Christa.

She was pale and breathing heavily as  if she had ran all the way here.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"The mission," she gasped. "It's over."

"Is everyone okay???"

"I think so, but..." she trailed off.

"But what?"

"The person who gave me the message looked like he'd seen a ghost."

My heart dropped. "How...how long until everyone gets back?"

"That's the thing," she said. "Most of them aren't coming back. We have to go get them."
