Me and my mom just had our moment of truth. Our moment where my mom told me everything. Well, close to everything. I looked to her and asked her the question I have been pondering about.
"Mom, why did you say we wouldn't always be together? You know, when you said that after dad died. Please tell me, don't lay it off."
I could tell she was ticked, she did not want to talk about this, but she had too.
"Paisley, not very many people are like this.. Like us. We have to keep this a secret. I was very scared when you told your teacher all about this but luckily, she is one of us. That doesn't happen very often and you could have gotten yourself into a lot of trouble. As sad as it is, there ARE people that want to hurt us.. There is a group of people called The Dream Chasers. They want us and our ability."
Without a breath I shouted my opinion.
"Well they can have it, it's horrible!! I have hurt people I care about with it!!"
I was so frustrated but my mother, so calm, always keeping her posture.
"I feel the same way. But, they will hurt us. They want to use our ability to change the world completely. They especially want us dreamers that haven't used their pick wish. That's why your in danger. A pick wish is the the one dream that the dreamer decides what happens in the dream."
"Why doesn't someone use their pick wish to dream away the Dream Chasers?" I ask.
"They have found a way to not let pick wishes dream them away. And part of that was my fault. Paisley, I need to tell you something."
"Thank you for answering all my questions, I'm not done asking them yet, but I have to go visit Drew!!"
I'm grabbing my jacket and car keys when my mom tell me she needs to tell me something. I give her hug and whisper thank you into her ear, but I need to see Drew.
I walk into Drew's room without checking in. I visit Drew everyday so they know I'm here. When i walk into the room I see Drew in between two doctors that are holding her up as she tries to walk. She stands still and looks at me with a big smile.
"Your walking!" I say joyfully.
"Sorta!" Drew laughs.
Her left leg is half as skinny as her right leg and it's been cleaned up since I last saw her. There are stitches all the way from her knee to her ankle and a the biggest bruise in the middle of the stitching. I'm so glad it's already better and it's only been 3 days since the wreck. Drew takes a big step with her normal leg and limps as she steps on her injured leg. She lets out a quiet "ouch" and the doctors set her back on her bed.
"How's it goin?!" I ask hoping she responds in a positive way.
"It already feels 10 times better." Says Drew.
"Good." I say. A sigh of relief leaves me and I'm not so panicked any more.
"Sooo, how was your chat with Lance?" Drew winks.
"Wellllll, he... he... Asked me to the dance!!"
Drew sits up and grabs my shoulders to jerk me around. Don't worry, she was shaking me in the most excited way! She let out a shreek and we started laughing.
"Well I'm glad you told me that, because Carter came in yesterday and asked me to the dance!!" We both screamed till the doctor shushed us.
Carter is a less popular guy, but I'm not sure why. He's probably the 2nd most attractive guy at school, after Lance. He's a dark haired, dark eyed boy just like Drew.
"Let's go dress shopping tomorrow!" I say. "Right after school!"
"One, I'll be in a wheel chair, and two, I'm not going to school for another week." Says Drew.
"It's okay! I'll pick you up after school and I'll help you try on the dresses, it'll be great." I smile.
"Well, I guess!" Shouted Drew.
I told Drew I had to go and headed back home. The next day at school was perfectly normal and I told Mrs. Daylock all about my mom catching me up. It wasn't until 6th period, math, that I felt unsafe.
"Paisley." Said my principle as he walked in. "Can I have a word with you? In my office."
I didn't think I did anything but I wouldn't be surprised if I did do something, I'm not the perfect child. Principle Stone led me in a told me to grab a seat.
"If your wanting to know about Drew, she's doing grea-
Without notice, principle stone threw his head around, arms straight at me and pushed my chair over backwards and I landed on my head. Without having any time to get up and rub my head, he grabbed me and threw me against the door. I fell to the ground but didn't have time to hit the ground before he chucked me over his desk. I broke his glass top to his desk and glass shattered everywhere. I could feel myself being pierced in a million places including my face. Everything hurt and I didn't even have time to think what was going on. My head and back aches so bad all I could do was lay there.
"I know who you are!!" Principle stone shouted from across the room. "You won't be able to hide!!!!!!!"
I picked my head up to look at him and he kicked me into his bookshelf. Books flew everywhere as the book shelf hit the ground. The book shelf was on me and I couldn't breath. Gasping for air, I climbed out from underneath it and only had a fifth of a second to catch my breath. Out of the corner of my eye I could see his lab top on the floor. I army crawled with all the strength I had left, grabbed it and with all my might slammed it against his head. His head flew to the ground and I was sure I had knocked him out. I felt my forehead where the pain was becoming unbearable and blood was shooting out of my cut. Blood was all over my clothes and on the ground and I quickly left the scene. I ran to get into my car, but thought of Mrs. Daylock. If he finds out she's one too, he'll hurt her. I ran down the hall really hoping no one would see me because it looks like I murdered someone. It's a good thing it was 6th period Because Mrs. Daylock had a free period. I ran in and when she saw me, she gasped and ran towards me. I could hardly stand up straight and I was starting to wobble.
"It was principle Stone." I say as I can hardly speak. He's a dream catcher!!
"Oh my gosh, I would have never know!!" Said Mrs. Daylock, "we need to get you home!!"
Mrs. Daylock pushed me into her car and the last I saw of anything was the High school getting smaller and smaller.
