The next morning seemed to pass at a surreal speed. After discussing all of the details that Winston had revealed last night regarding the competition, Helen and Bob hesitantly gave their children their blessing to leave for Baronial Island the next day. That morning, as Dash stood in the doorway of their house, the sudden realization of not knowing when he was going to be able to come back hit him. Nonetheless, Dash knew that he wanted to compete for the prize of becoming invincible. His father had always told him that from a young age, he knew that Dash possessed this unrelenting ambition that would only flourish as he got older. And even now, at fifteen years old, Dash still had that competitive blood in him. And nothing was going to stop him from reaching the top of this competition.
The plane ride, like the first one, was quick and dream-like. In fact, ever since walking out of the high-rise conference room on Baronial Island, Dash felt like he was in a dream. Everything around him seemed blurry, almost as if his life was being fast-forwarded. Was this a sign from the future warning him to not compete? Or maybe it was a sign telling him that this is his calling? Either way, as Dash boarded the plane that would bring him to his new home for the next few years, the world began to pale in color. What was this feeling? Dash didn't know, but whatever it was, he hoped it would go away quickly.
"Good afternoon, supers," Winston Deavor's voice booms out in the echoey conference room once more. It was one o'clock sharp in the afternoon, and all ten of the supers were present.
"Since we're going to be spending a lot of time together, I thought it would be beneficial if we spent the first day of our competition getting to know each other and getting used to life on the island," Winston begins. "First things first, I'd like to relocate to the cafeteria and main hall building, which is located a few miles from here. You will be spending most of your freetime there, where I hope you mingle with your fellow competitors, and hopefully, make some friends." With that, Winston beckons with his hand for the group to follow him to yet another tall, pristine building with white marble around the exterior. Everything at the island seemed to scream "wealth."
As Dash and Violet begin to walk side-by-side, following the rest of the group along the dirt-free stone path, Dash begins to analyze his competitors. In the group of ten, there were five boys and five girls, including Dash and Violet. Dash immediately eyes the black-haired boy at the front of the group. His posture, unlike the rest of the competitors, was very confident -- almost cocky. Keeping a mental note to be wary of him, Dash continues to follow the group into the huge auditorium at the front of the building. This building, unlike the conference room, seemed much cozier. A large and colorful lounge area took up most of the space at the front, with more than enough seating for everyone. A small stage took up the wall on the other side of the room, with comfortable seats facing the stage. At the back of the room was what looked more like a luxurious buffet than a cafeteria. Long, white tables were placed in rows, with plenty of matching chairs pushed in. What really made the entire place beautiful was all of the decorations hung on the walls. Flat-screen TVs and ceiling-to-floor windows dotted the walls every couple of feet. Realistic and futuristic-looking paintings were hung on the walls as well, leaving no awkward space of bare wall in the entire room. High ceilings allowed the warm sunlight to enter, but the place was so well air-conditioned that you wouldn't have to worry about getting too hot.
