Narrator's POV
Going full speed Emily raced through the streets of Virginia trying to get to her daughter in time, but halfway to her destination Emily's cell rang. Seeing her daughter's face pop up onscreen she immediately picked up the phone, but the voice that filled her ears wasn't her daughter's. It was the voice of the man that haunted her most recent nightmares
"Hello love" Doyle spoke with a smile, hearing the sharp intake of breath from his former lover "How does it feel knowing I hold the only thing in the world you love more than your own life?" He asked tauntingly.
"We both know this has nothing to do with her" said Emily "She's innocent, it's me you want" She reminded him "Just tell me where you are and I'll take her place" She begged. He laughed, hearing the desperation pouring from her voice, knowing losing her daughter would hurt her more than anything gave him a sick satisfaction
"I can hear the desperation pouring from you" Said Doyle "It's pathetic, and this has everything to do with her" He spoke angrily "Because of you I lost the chance at raising my boy, because of you they killed him, and now because of your actions your only child will suffer the same fate my son did. I wanted you to listen as I put a bullet in her head" He spoke coldly, hearing her yell for him to stop
"Wait!" Emily cried "He's not dead, Declan's not dead." She confessed "I knew he wouldn't be safe with all the enemies you've made, and the CIA would have wanted information which I knew he didn't have, so I did the only thing I could to protect him." She explained "Look closely at the photo, it was me holding the gun. I staged it, but I swear to you he's alive" She told him honestly, tears streaming down her face. "I love Declan, I would have never let any harm come to him, you have to believe that. Lauren Reynolds may have been a role I played to get the job done, but I love that little boy." Said Emily "I betrayed your trust, but I protected your son. I never left him to be held accountable for your actions, so please don't hold her accountable for mine" She continued begging, hearing nothing but silence for a while, before he finally spoke again
"My boy for your girl" Doyle demanded "If he's not brought to me by sunset she dies, if you involve your team she dies, and maybe Aaron and little Jack will too" He threatened "No cops, no FBI, all I want is my boy, my Declan" He told her "And Emily, if you try anything I will end her life without hesitation. Call me when you find my boy, I will text you the address for the trade-off" He told her
"Wait!" Emily called out "I want to talk to her" She requested, but he denied her request before ending their call
Frustrated with his request Emily slammed her hands down on the steering wheel. In an effort to keep Declan protected she didn't want to know where he was taken. All Emily knew was that he's somewhere in the united stated with one of her old colleagues and Doyle's former housekeeper who'd been raising him as her own since birth, but aside from a letter with no return address, letting her know that they've gotten to their new destination each time they moved, and a few photographs every so often it's the only communication she's maintained with the child she knows isn't close enough to be brought to his father by the end of the day, not that she would even consider making that trade-off if he were
She's always wanted a better life for Declan. She never wanted him to turn out like his father, and she knew if she handed him over that's exactly what would happen, but Emily also needed to protect her child, and the only way to locate Declan was with the help of her team, but if she got them involved it would be like signing her daughter's death certificate because she knew that Ian would surely kill her
The moment the address came through to her phone she tossed it through the car window and began driving towards her new destination, not aware that the news of her daughter's abduction had already made national news
Doyle and his men waited until the youngest of the Prentiss women walked into a cafe near the airport for breakfast, shooting FBI agent Johnathan Wilson (Ambassador Elizabeth Prentiss' head of security) in the process. The abduction was caught clearly on camera and is now being played by every news station in the area along with the nationwide amber alert
Being a man who always watched the news reports this immediately raised panic in the unit chief who'd been trying to get a hold of his girlfriend ever since, but Aaron had no such luck. Instead, he did the only thing he could. He gathered the team in hopes of finding both Emily and her missing daughter before it was too late

"We're working on a kidnapping?" Reid questioned after watching the video of the abduction that happened less than three hours ago. "Is she the first vic?" He questioned
"This isn't our usual serial, it isn't even our case but I immediately recognized the victim once this video made the news" Said Hotch, bringing up a school photo of the brown-eyed, raven-haired little beauty "Victim's name is Aubrey Prentiss" He informed
"Does Emily have a sister we don't know about?" Derek questioned, seeing the similarities between the teenager in the picture and his partner "I thought she was an only child"
"She is." Said Hotch "Aubrey's not her sister she's her daughter" He explained, giving them all a moment to take in that information
"The video footage was shot just after seven this morning, and I haven't been able to get a hold of Emily since then" He informed. The team noted the way he referred to her as Emily instead of Prentiss which was a first, he was obviously very worried about the missing mother and daughter duo "I have reason to believe she knows her daughter's abductor. Her behavior lately has been odd." He told them, not going into detail
"I've noticed that she's been jumpy and extremely cautious" Said Reid "But I never thought she was in danger. Our last case was pretty rough, it left everyone on edge"
"Right now is not the time to think of that. We all know how time-sensitive child abduction cases can be, but before we go any further I want to make it clear that since this isn't officially our case, and I've given you all the day off you are not required to be here, so if anyone wants to leave now's the time" He spoke, but nobody made a move to leave. Instead, the team took their seats at the roundtable
"What can we do to help?" Asked JJ
"Garcia I need access to both Emily's and Aubrey's cells. Morgan you and JJ call Emily's former handler at the CIA. This has something to do with her time on the JTF-12 and that's where we'll find our suspect list that Reid and Rossi will be looking into. I'll be in my office if needed" Hotch spoke, getting up to leave
"What will you be doing?" Rossi questioned
"Someone has to inform Emily's mother that her daughter and granddaughter are missing." He answered before stepping out. Truthfully he needed a moment to breathe, because the thought of Emily out there on her own made him sick to his stomach. The thought of someone hurting her innocent daughter made him sick so for the first time in far too long he prayed. He prayed for the safety of both Aubrey and Emily because he couldn't bear the thought of losing either of them
He's never had the pleasure of meeting Aubrey face to face, but over the past few months knowing of her existence he's learned that she's not only a carbon copy of her mother, but she's also a very bright student with a very competitive spirit. The few times he'd picked up the phone when she'd called for her mother she was always extremely respectful and polite, but inquisitive. She respected their relationship, but when she had the chance she interrogated him on just about everything. He learned that like her mother and grandmother she's a born leader and of course, the little Prentiss is as stubborn as her mother. Truthfully he's grown attached to the mini Prentiss and wanted nothing more than to bring both Aubrey and Emily home safe
With a sigh he entered his office, shutting the door behind him. It was now time for the hard part, facing the ambassador with the news that would surely break her
