More Than Just Friends

The New Girl

I looked over to where he was staring and saw a brunette who looked lost. She seemed shy and I was guessing that she was new.

I didn't realize how long I've been looking at her until I saw Lucas waving his hand in front of my face,
"Um hello?"

I quickly recollected myself,
"Oh um sorry, what was that?"

"I asked if you knew her?"

"No I was just, uh, daydreaming."

I looked up expecting to find Lucas when I realized he was already walking over to her. I felt weird, was it jealousy?
I shut my locker and walked over to the two who already looked like a couple.

Obnoxiously, I stuck my hand out between them and introduced myself "Hi I'm Maya!"

The brunette shook my hand then gave Lucas a weird look while he bit his lip, she then looked at me and exclaimed,
"Oh hey, I'm Riley."

"So, where exactly are you from?"

"Austin, Texas. I actually just moved here over the weekend."

"Cool so who's your teacher?"
I kept asking questions to keep the two from looking at each other.

"Um, just hold on a second," she grabbed out a piece of paper and read it. "It says Mr. Matthews, do you guys know where that class is?"

"Oh great" I said sarcastically,
Lucas elbowed me while still keeping his eyes on her,
"I mean.. Oh great! That's actually where we are heading too so you can walk with us."

She shrugged her shoulders and smiled, "sure thanks!"

{Lucas POV}

I watched Maya interrogate Riley with a bunch of questions, she's been acting strange since that morning.

I suddenly went through everything that she could possibly know in my head.

Wait.

I wonder if she went through my phone and read my texts to Farkle? That would explain everything..

I looked over at her, still talking to the new girl Riley, she looked beautiful today, and her smile...which I must have been thinking about for a while because before I knew it..

"Um Lucas?"

I looked up to see my best friend and my new friend standing there,

"Are you coming with us or not?"

"Yeah sorry I spaced out."

The new girl smiled at me and we started walking to class. I admit she's really cute, but there's something that doesn't feel right about liking her.

"So why did you move here?" I asked her.

"My dad got a new job, so we relocated!"

"Well, speaking of Dad's-

"Son." I heard my dad say as we arrived at the door.

"Father."

I heard Sabrina whisper to Riley "he was trying to tell you that his dad is the teacher."

Riley raised her eyebrows in shock then grinned and made her way over to my dad.

"Pleasure to meet you Mr. Matthews, I'm new, I mean, my name isn't new, my name is Riley, but I'm a new student...okay I'm gonna go sit down now."

Dad looked at me, "I like her, she seems like she could be my daughter."

I saw Maya roll her eyes and make her way into class,
She definitely had an attitude but it grew on me, and it's actually kind of attractive now.

Note: Yay okay so second chapter and yes I know it sucks, but it will get better soon! Also did anyone notice the comment Mr. Matthews said about Riley being his daughter haha ;-) and also Maya and Lucas seem to have a lot in common, such as them spacing out, and um idk maybe their feelings for each other?
