TARA POV

It was sweet relief the moment Ciree returned home. There was no doubt that he was happy to see us, even if he was not too happy about leaving his life behind in Sweden. Ciree has planted deep roots in Stockholm and he doesn't want to dig them up. It's only now that I realize how unhappy he was when we were on the run.

Our family had two days of quality time before we were to bring Ciree to New Orleans to meet the Vampire council. Godric did his best to try to ease my worries, but I found no comfort.

Just a few years ago, Eric, Pam and I would have never pictured being cordial to the same group that wanted us locked up and executed. It was hard for me to get past the fact that the council wanted us punished for defending ourselves and if not for Godric and his strategic thinking, we'd still be fugitives.

The reason my stomach is in knots now is the fact that they are demanding to see my son.

"They are just curious," Godric says giving my hand a firm squeeze as he escorts Ciree and me into the home of the newly appointed Queen.

Before the meeting, Godric had explained my lineage to the council. It was not a surprise to me that most of the older vampires are familiar with the legend of Akasha. I believe as well as they do that Ciree is confirmation that the myth was in fact true history.

Godric was right, after all, I had nothing to worry about. The meeting with the AVL went better than I could have ever dreamt of. They asked Ciree the same questions Eric asked me. They are fascinated that he has some Wiccan abilities as well They are amazed that he can turn on and off his vampire abilities like a light switch. The vampires were honestly curious and they meant us no harm... There was no envy, no fear and most importantly no hatred. They just wanted to know who and what this Northman miracle is and how he came to be.

After the vampires very politely picked our brains, we had a nice cocktail hour. The home of Godric's friend Queen Ruth Mare was beautiful. The grand dining room is embellished in deep vibrant colors of crimson red, midnight black, and gold. The bar is fully stocked with wines and blood donors, Queen Ruth even had a chef that specialized in making dishes for vampires and humans.

"How long is this meeting and why don't I have a return flight back," Ciree started to bark at us the moment we left the party. When I say us, I mean Eric and I. Pam drove in a separate vehicle and Godric was on his cellular the entire time. What my puppy doesn't know is his mom is a pit-bull, I bite back.

"Aren't spring-break son...yes you are... so chill," I say, trying my best not to get into an argument on this fine night.

He rolled his beautiful green eyes at me and turned to his dad.

"Are you going to book my flight or do I need to make some calls?"

"We shall sleep on this tonight and talk about it tomorrow," Eric replies smoothly.

"What is there to talk about?" He raised his voice and it took everything in me not to reach back and slap him.

Eric pulled into the parking garage and disappeared, leaving Godric and me to deal with our son.

"I had things planned for us, and you just got here," I try reasoning with him.

"Cancel them, cause I'm leaving," Ciree clipped and maneuvered pass me for the door.

"Where the hell are you going?" I yelled; I know I shouldn't have but I did. I held him in my magical stranglehold.

"Mom, please stop, you're hurting me," a small trickle of blood oozed out of one of his nostrils. I knew what would happen if I released him but I did anyway. Before I could blink an eye, he was gone, he didn't bother opening the door, he burst through it.
