the beat that flowed throughout the car made me feel content while i stared at the road ahead. occasionally my eyes would drift away from the road to glance at zara. even though the glances weren't long i wished they would be. everything about her made me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

without a doubt, if everything goes smoothly, i'm going to ask her to be my girlfriend today. if she's not ready then i'll respect her decision and just keep it moving. however, i really hope that she does say yes.

turning into the relatively empty parking lot, i parked the car before looking at zara who was already smiling like a kid in a toy store.

"surprise!" at the sound of my voice zara looked over and gave me a quick hug but it still made my heart race.

"it's nice to know that you remembered that the beach is my favorite place." her voice was muffled against my chest and she quickly pulled away to rush out of the car.

grabbing all the stuff i had purchased from target and putting it in my backpack, i got out of the car to chase after zara. she had found a spot and was dancing around as she waited for me.

"so is this is your final choice?" i questioned about the spot she had picked.

"yup, it's not too far from the car nor too far from the ocean." as she spoke it was like her eyes sparkled with excitement.

pulling out the royal purple beach blanket that i had chosen, i set it down before arranging everything i brought on it. plopping down on the blanket i felt zara sit down right next to me. i grabbed my speaker and held it out to zee.

"want to connect your phone to the speaker?"

she nodded her head before connecting it. right after a song with a mellow vibe to it started playing. i knew it was a song by this lady eevee beats but i couldn't remember it's name.

a hand on my shoulders pushed me so i was laying on my back and zara quickly laid her head on my stomach. before long we began to talk about different phenomenons that no one really had the true answers to like death and the infinite universe.

we talked for what felt like hours before silence fell upon us but it wasn't like we needed many words. for awhile we just sat listening to the music that zara continued to choose accompanied by the waves crashing in the background. she had picked up one of the comic books i had brought along and was silently reading.

"zara?" i heard a soft hum in response.

"will you be my girlfriend?" there was a few moments of silence.

"okay, i'm cool with that."
