Chapter 10

We look around the flat land. Nothing, not yet I hope. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I believe there is something out there, somewhere.

"Nothing. There is nothing out there, we need to turn around and go back the other way and continue looking around. " Christina says. That can't be true, I know there is something, anything. I can feel it, and I have to trust myself.

"That can't be true, there has to be something. Anything, out here!" I say, louder than I intended. Everyone gives me strange looks. "Sorry, I'm just frusturated. " I say, calmer.

"We all are, Tris, but if you really think that there is something out there, then we will keep looking in this direction. " Zeke says.

We keep walking and all of a sudden, I hear a scream.

"Guys! Did you hear that?!" Tobias says.

"Yeah, let's go!" I say. We start running toward the noise. We get there- everyone panting- and we see a middle aged man attacking a small boy, probably 12 years old.

"Hey! Break it up!" I say. I walk towards them and try to break it up, earning me a punch to the face. I fall to the ground and I hear Christina come over to me. I see Tobias breaking up the fight. I get up and walk over to Zeke and Uriah. Christina follows and soon Tobias joins us.

"What is this place?" Christina asks.

"The fringe. " a women says behind us. We all turn around and she smiles. "Hello, my name is Juanita. But please, call me Nita. " she says.
