"Violet breakfast is ready" a calming voice echoed in my ear. I woke to Madison as she pulled open the curtains.
" Yes, just a little longer," I said Burying my head under my pillows to hide from the sunlight she just unleashed on me.
I am finally used to being woken up by Madison. I had even gotten used to her sneaky up on me, somewhat. Of course, I still felt like a guest in this home some. Madison explained to me that William required me to hurry up and get ready for the day.
"you'll be having a house guest."
When I went into the dining room, William was waiting for me with breakfast. We exchanged our usual morning greetings, which are starting to feel more natural.
" I imagine Madison told you we would be having a house guest today, am I right."
"Yes she did, so who exactly are these houseguests."
" I'm sure the news has spread that I have an heir I would still like for a certain someone to meet you in person."
someone wanted to meet me, that made me a bit anxious. Part of me was excited, I really wanted to know the type of people who William considered important enough to meet me in person. Though if I was sincere, I was also afraid that I wouldn't Meet any of their expectations. After all, I was just some orphan that he found, I didn't have any unique qualities that make me seem like I deserved to be his heir. What even is an heir supposed to do? I didn't even ask William when he explained it to me.
I spent the next few hours pacing back in forth in my room. How to greet them, I was not good with manners William was the first person I tried being polite with. I never tried to be friendly to anyone "probably why no one wanted me." I thought out loud.
A knock at my door snaps me out of my internal struggle "the first of the guest have arrived." there was no more time for myself I put on a brave face and followed Madison to the main hall to greet them.
Thousands of different images flew through my mind of the type of person who would walk through that door. The only thing I knew about William was that he was rich, and a little strange. Ideas of eccentric billionaires, fashion designers, wrinkly old business, or any other number wealthy people we're all I can think of.
Madison opened the door, and I was greeted with was an older gentleman who looks to be mid-fifties. He was wearing a grey suit; it seemed a little old, but also expensive. I'm guessing it was something he wore often though since it was wrinkled. He smelled like alcohol and cigarettes, and he had bags under his eyes. The more I looked at him, the less he seems to be what I was imagining, but I wasn't disappointed, I was relieved he appeared utterly unassuming, and I wasn't intimidated at all.
"Maddie long time no see" the man seemed comfortable enough to walk right in without announcing himself and spoke to Madison like she was an old friend even with the nickname.
"nice to see that the house is still standing... so who's the kid." All of my nerves tensed up at once and I just immediately greeted him how was planning.
"Hello my name is violet Valcove it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance" I never tried to curtsy before, and I nearly tripped. but he didn't say anything, he just stared at me
" William adopted a kid" he finally spoke after 3 or 4 minutes
"You're kidding right there's no way." he spoke kind of condescendingly like it was impossible to believe William would make that decision.
"Now Gideon is that any way to talk about your gand-niece."
Williams' voice chimed in from behind me and almost startled me, but then again I had become used to Madison sneaking up on me.
