Hello! I've returned with a brand new fic! It's probably just as crap as my other ones and it's taken me far too long to write, but I hope y'all enjoy it.

Based on Pomme's (and Lauren's) tweet about U of M from a few weeks ago.

**blah blah blah I don't own anything other than these words blah blah blah**

"Hey Lo, since we're headed to Michigan for you brother's wedding next week, maybe we can visit Ann Arbor? I haven't been since the reunion which seems like forever ago." He said while picking out his tie for the event from their bedroom.

"Sure! I haven't been since last year and it's actually pretty nice this time of year. Any particular reason you want to go though?" She paused, "you're not going to be one of those assholes who propose on the law quad or the arboretum are you?"
He fake laughed and reassured her that this is definitely not why he wanted to go. Though it did give him some ideas for their short visit.

They arrived a few days prior to the wedding thinking they could help in some way, but as it turned out everyone was much more prepared than expected. Instead of just hanging around her parents' house, they decided to visit their alma mater for the day. The weather does tend to be really nice in the fall so the pair took up the opportunity to spend the day at their old stomping grounds.

As the leaves had just started to change and it hadn't gotten too chilly yet, they decided to park downtown and walk for the majority of the day. They had visited one of their favorite spots in college only to see it had been turned into a massive Walgreens, and knew there had been a good breakfast place not too far. They settled in, instantly reminiscing about the 'good old days'. They had talked about the shows they had done, both individually and together, the highlights of being in class with all of their friends, and of course all of the parties that naturally ended up with a bunch of drunk theatre kids singing showtunes and making out. Neither really wanted to admit it, but both had an understanding that there had always been underlying feelings for the other during those years, particularly Lauren because 'what senior girl falls for the lanky sophomore'.

After their meal they decided to walk by the Michigan Theatre before heading on to the campus. Being in that space again brought back all of the emotions from the tours. Particularly the times they had been so proud and emotionally drained, often turning to each other. They had spent some of their highest and lowest moments together, never for a second thinking about it any other way. As they had been looking up at the marquee, Lauren noticed Joey had a rather somber expression on his face.

"Hey," she looked up at him getting his attention, "what's that face about? This place holds such happy memories, ones you live to talk about, so what's going on?"

Being pulled from his trance, he looked down and smiled for all of his thoughts of the past were cleared looking at his present. "I was just thinking, the last time we were here, we were so close to being a couple that it felt real. It's just weird to look back and see how much time we wasted not wanting to take that next step."

"Hey it only took us like 2 more years to get our shit together and really do this thing. And I'm so glad we did" she finished standing on her toes to kiss his cheek. "Now can we continue this little trip down memory lane?"

As they walked through the main campus they came across the giant M in the middle of the diag. Even though they had been out of school for quite a few years the habit of not stepping on it stuck with them.

"Did I ever tell you about the one time I almost stepped on this before my blue book exam?" Joey asked.

"What? No. When did that happen?" She asked.
