Chapter 2: He Must Set Things Right

Y/N pulled up to a cemetery and she walked along the path to see the remains of the sleigh. She hid at the entrance as she saw the skeleton lying unconscious on the statue. The male ghost dog helped him attach his bottom jaw back in place then he sang.

[Jack:]
"What have I done?
What have I done?
How could I be so blind?
All is lost, where was I?
Spoiled all, spoiled all
Everything's gone all wrong

What have I done?
What have I done?
Find a deep cave to hide in
In a million years they'll find me
Only dust and a plaque
That reads, 'Here Lies Poor Old Jack'"

Y/N felt so bad for him. He wanted to bring joy like Santa did, but I guess the "elves" he had didn't understand what he wanted.

"But I never intended all this madness, never
And nobody really understood, well how could they?
That all I ever wanted was to bring them something great
Why does nothing ever turn out like it should?

Well, what the heck, I went and did my best
And, by God, I really tasted something swell
And for a moment, why, I even touched the sky
And at least I left some stories they can tell, I did

And for the first time since I don't remember when
I felt just like my old bony self again
And I, Jack, the Pumpkin King
That's right, I am the Pumpkin King, ha, ha, ha"

When he ripped the Santa outfit off to reveal his black suit, Y/N smiled because this was who he really was. She even smiled at the fact that she now knew his name and that they have things in common.

"And I just can't wait until next Halloween
'Cause I've got some new ideas
That will really make them scream
And, by God I'm really gonna give it all my might
Uh oh, I hope there's still time to set things right
Sandy Claws, hmm"

He then entered a grave and the male ghost dog followed. Both Y/N and Nica approached the grave and looked at each other.

"Think it's a good idea?" Y/N asked, Nica barked, then Y/N responded, "That's what I thought."

She walked after Jack and when she made it on the other side, she gasped at the sight before her. Y/N was in Halloween Town! Then she remembered she was looking for Jack, so she ran after him until he came to a stop at a treehouse. She stopped too, but ended up tripping, which caught his attention.

"Y/N?" Jack questioned.

Y/N chuckled nervously and waved, "Hi."

"What are you doing here?" he asked as he helped her up.

"I saw you get shot down and I wanted to make sure you were okay. I heard you sing and I followed you here. By the way, nice place," she answered.

"Well, thank you. But right now I have to go save Sandy Claws," Jack said.

"Could you use some help?" Y/N offered.

"I guess it couldn't hurt, but do exactly as I say," he instructed.

"Okay," she answered.

They started climbing down a rope,  Nica and Zero following them, and into Oogie's lair.
