It had been a couple of weeks since Jade Blue started school, and just like the other schools she's been too she had no friends. Sure there was Gilbert, but she had to attempt to distant herself and he sometimes didn't show up to school since he was helping his sick father.
"Jade,"Lucky called from downstairs making the girl jump from her bed.
"Yeah?"
"Can you come down?"The oldest brother asked causing the youngest sister to run down the stairs.
"Wh-,"The girl was cut off from the sight in front of her.
"Happy Birthday!"The Blue family screamed causing Jade to smile.
"Oh wow I didn't think you guys remembered,"she gushed taking a seat at the table.
"Of course we would,"Miles smiled handing her a box.
"Please don't be another dress,"Jade groaned recalling her past five gifts in a box had been a dress.
Opening the white box the girl's jaw dropped.
"Where did you get this from!"She squealed pulling the object out.
"From around,"Miles shrugged watching his sister full of joy.
"The rules."Chris called catching the attention of his kids, "You can't actually use it, and you must not tell any one of this gift."
"It's a pipe, why would I use it?"Jade laughed holding the beautifully carved object.
Jade Blue had a fascination with pipes. Growing up with all older men she couldn't help but find them intriguing, so she began to collect them. Never actually putting tobacco in and smoking it, she just liked the looks and idea of a pipe.
"Well hurry on Jade, you don't want to be late for school,"nodding the girl stood from her spot and went to change out of her trousers into her newest white dress.
She never told anyone of her birthday, she likes to keep it a secret. When her birthday comes up, her birth comes up, and when her birth comes up, her mothers death comes up.
It been 15 years since Jennifer Blue passed away, giving life.
She knew her brothers and father would be leaving to visit her grave, an event she much rather pass. She doesn't like to go because she feels guilty.
Walking down the steps with her birthday lunch, and school materials Jade began to think.
Gilbert Blythe. Her only partial friend, her only partial friend that Ruby had dibs on.
She still replays her argument with Josie about that topic.
She came into school not knowing anything, and people getting mad at her for not knowing. It was her first day and no one bothered to teach her the way it all goes.
Her thoughts were caught off by a shout.
Looking into the woods she saw Gilbert, Billy Andrews, and a red-haired girl that layed on her back.
