The Principal's Office

The next morning, my parents and I walked into school. It was before anyone was there, so I was free to walk out in the open.

The secretary sent us into the long hallway. 'Last door to your right,' she said. I have only been back here only a few times. Just to go pick up coffee or papers for a teacher.

When we got to the door, principal Morris was sitting behind his wooden desk, and Abby's parents in front. Both groups had a serious but tired look on their face.

It's time.

My mum twisted the doorknob until it opened with a click. All heads turned, Mr. Morris' face stayed the same, but Abby and her parents scowled with a hateful glare in their eyes.

"Good morning, take a seat," the principal said, jesting his hand towards the 3 padded, blue chairs.

We sunk in, the chair taking in all of our behinds. I started to dig my fingernails into the plastic arm rest. It was the only thing to keep me anchored to the chair; the only thing keeping me from getting up and walking through the door.

"So from my understanding, Ginger here fell down the stairs," said Mr. Morris, putting on his readers while reading a paper, "But before all this happened, she lost her leg, then replaced with a prosthetic?"

"Yes," my mum said, her eyes watering.

"Ok, good. Then, multiple students, who are now getting suspended, took photos and posted. After the popularity, Abby came up to you and called you a 'freak' and harrassed you?"

"Yes," I meekly responded.

"Ok, so you have anything to say?" Morris asked Abby.

"No," she responded.

"Well, then. I think that you should have two full day suspension from school. Harrassment in this school is not ok. Is there anything else you'd like to add?"

"Yes!" I said loudly, "Abby's been cheating off me for the last three years."

I could see that Abby's face turned from a sad, guilty look to an angered frown. At that moment, I knew I messed up.

"The teacher has acknowledged this, from what I've been told. I guess I have no choice to bring all your classes down to 0, too."

Abby's parent's glared at me, as well. I've never felt so proud, yet so guilty in my entire life.
