Garrett had been finding subtle ways to see Cal, which felt somewhat stalkery but he couldn't help himself, the boy made him smile. During lunch, he was only half listening to Nick talk about one of his weird dreams. But Garrett's mind was preoccupied with Cal who was sitting at the table on the other side of the cafeteria.
When the bell rang he nearly tripped with how fast he was walking to try and catch up with the blonde boy. He had cut his hair, revealing his face more and those memorizing blue eyes. It wasn't fair how someone could be so, transfixing.
Was Garrett gay? No. But he did have some odd feelings when he was around the theater kid. "Hey." He said with a shy smile once he caught up to Cal.
"Hey, Garrett. Off to practice?" Cal said returning the smile as he pointed to Garrett's gym bag."Yup, we have a game next week so coach wants us there earlier than usual." Garrett sighed heading down the athlete's hall. "I'll text you later." He called to Cal as he headed off, Cal just smiled ducking his head. People always stared at him when the oh so hot popular Soccer Captain talked to him so openly in public. Of course, all of the girls in theater questioned him and even asked if he could get them his number. There was no way he was going to do that, even if he didn't have a crush on Garrett. And there it was, yes a crush. His number one rule was broken and so was his heart, there was no stopping these stupid feelings. Garrett was just so charming in his own way that it was impossible to not like him, Cal understood why girls fell all over him now. Well, besides the fact that he's built like a God.
During practice Garrett wasn't doing so hot, his mind was busy having the usual identity crisis over a boy. Why is a boy making him like this? Why does it bother him that it's a boy... Does it matter? As long as he's happy, it shouldn't matter what gender Cal is. He likes Cal. And with that thought in his head, he kicked the ball hard into the goal right past the Goalie. "There you go, Laughlin! Bring it back!" His coach called blowing his whistle. Garrett sighed going to the sidelines to get a drink and wipe the sweat off his forehead. "Hey man, you okay? You don't normally play this bad." Bram smiled holding his friend's shoulder.
"Gee thanks, yeah I'm good. Just dealing with shit." Garrett shrugged feeling a stab to his heart, he hated hiding things from his best friend but he was still trying to figure stuff out, it was too soon to talk about it.
"Alright take a breather, I'll switch in for you real quick," Bram said as he headed back onto the field. As he took a swig of his cold drink, he raised a brow seeing a familiar face up in the bleachers. Cal? He was used to girls sitting up there during their practice for obvious reasons but to see someone like Cal up there was shocking. Did he even watch sports? Garrett smirked too himself making a show by using the bottom of his shirt to wipe the sweat off his face, showing off his abs. Maybe he was imagining what he wanted to see but it did look like Cal's eyes went straight down Garrett's body. With a chuckle, he waved to Cal before heading back onto the field. It was easy to say, he definitely played a better game knowing Cal was watching him.
"Hey, you." Garrett smiled approaching the bleachers with his gym bag slung over his shoulder and a water bottle in his hand.
"Hi. Practice went well, I think? I'm no good with sports but your coach seemed to like what was happening." Cal said bashfully standing up to walk with Garrett.
"Thanks, yeah I started out rough but it got easier later on....wow that sounded. I apologize. I usually think before I speak." Garrett blushed at his wording.
"Do you?" Cal smirked teasingly.
"Wow okay, shouldn't you be in theater practice Mr. Smartass." Garrett looked down at the boy taking in the view, he really liked this new hairstyle Cal had going on. It profiled his face so much better.
"We didn't have rehearsals today. I had a free period so I decided to come to see...- the team." The team? Since when was Cal such a school spirited guy.
"Right. The team." Garrett smiled knowingly. He came to see him play, did that mean he liked him too but he's never let on that he wasn't anything but straight.
"I have to get home to start making dinner, mom invited her friends over and she wants to impress them with this whole feast or whatever. I'll see you around." Cal said with a smile waving to Garrett, the thought of watching Cal cook made Garrett's heart flutter. No straight guy would get that feeling over a boy? But he didn't see any other guys in that way. In fact, it grossed him out. But nothing about Price grossed him out, he even thought about kissing him while he was showering. Though we all know he was thinking about a lot more than kissing."Garrett you've been in there for an hour! Hurry up and get down here. You have dishes to clean!" His dad yelled completely ruining the fantasy he had in his head made up of Cal. He rolled his eyes rinsing off biting back any snarky remarks that could get him into trouble.
After his chores he went up to his room checking his phone, he yawned seeing a text from Cal and Bram.B⚽: Hey G, mom wants to know if you want to come over tomorrow for pasta night.
Cal🎭: So about that promised movie night with pizza? My parents left for some concert. They won't be back until Sunday so the house is really creepy when its empty. I'm not crazy, I hear footsteps. Please grace me with some company.😖😖
Garrett chuckled laying back on his bed replying to Bram,
To: B⚽) sorry man got plans. Next time? Tell her thnx tho
He decided to answer Cal by face timing him, his heart made that fluttering feeling again when the ringing stopped and a blonde boy with glasses and a black sweater popped up onto his screen. "Hello. Um, lose your shirt?" Cal teased with a raised brow. That amused Garrett to no end, he must find him a little bit attractive to always have his eyes everywhere but Garretts face.
"Checking me out Price? I got out of the shower an hour ago and got too lazy to put one on." He shrugged watching Cal shift in his chair, it looked like he was sitting at a desk. His bed was made behind him with shelves of books beside it.
"You wish Laughlin, so did you get my text?" Cal smiled fixing his sweater as if it were crooked at the neck.
"Yeah, totally. I'll come to save you from the demons." Garrett chuckled laying his arm under his head, holding his phone with the other. With this angle, he was giving off a pretty good gun show.
"Shut up, I know what I hear and it freaks me out." It almost seemed like Cal's eyes were enjoying the gun show but it was impossible to tell by the screen.
"So like noon? I can bring snacks and we can just have a little party." Garrett hummed looking at Cal's glasses, he should wear those more.
"Perfect, but you need to bring hot Cheetos or I'll kick you out." Cal joked with the shyest laugh.
"You sound like Bram. Why am I everyone's snack slave?' He snorted rolling his eyes. "Fine, I'll bring hot Cheetos and candy. Twizzlers you're favorite. Anything else my master?""Just yourself by noon sharp," Cal said with a serious tone to try and sound like an authority but he broke it by laughing.
"It's a date," Garrett said before hanging up as he his heart beating out of his chest. What did he just say...
