Raining Down on Me

He didn't show.
Blue didn't come.

When Simon got off the ride, he walked one last time. Not because he has hope that Blue could be there but because he needed to walk.
Once the Fair was officially closed, Simon was walking out to the parking lot when the rain started because of course, what a great way to end a horrible day. Well, the whole day wasn't horrible. Just the ending.
Ending, so was this the end of Jacques and Blue. How did it feel like this was a break up when they never even dated nor know who Blue even was. This wasn't fair but at least the rain hid Simon's tears.

He sat on the curb staring up at the rain letting himself get drenched when it came down harder, because why does it matter anyway. Blue didn't want him.

Simon heard a voice behind him but ignored it thinking it was just some people left over from the fair passing by, but the voice got louder. It was a deep voice. A guy. Simon told his stupid heart to stop beating so fast, no it isn't him stop it. It's just someone looking for their friends. Probably got separated when the rain started. It was impossible to see anything with this thick layer of rain, you wouldn't be able to see anyone unless they were standing an inch from your face. "I'm sorry!" Simon suddenly heard the voice yell right beside him. He jumped looking up to see a tall silhouette standing beside him, he couldn't tell who it was but they were facing towards him. "Um, what was that?" Simon yelled back over the rain as he stood up. "I said I'm sorry. I'm a coward and you deserve someone better." The mysterious boy yelled but kept his distance. Blue. Simon's heart froze, his body tensed. His Blue was standing about a foot away from him. Damn this rain, he couldn't tell who it was at all. The boy was tall, skinny but yet he also looked built. An athlete? Is that why he's so timid to come out, he's a stereotypical Jock that rather be a bully than a homo. No- that isn't Blue. He knows him and he isn't the type to harm anyone. "Blue... You aren't a coward. You're just scared and you have every right to be. I mean this is freaking Georgia!" Simon said wondering if he could try stepping closer but then thought against it not wanting to spook Blue away. "You definitely are Jacques." He heard the boy chuckle. He almost sounded familiar, almost. But the rain was drowning out the majority of his voice. "Why did you disappear?" Was all Simon could think to say. "I- Simon. I can't handle it if you reject me. I just can't. I've had a crush on you since freshman year and the fact that you turned out to be Jacques felt like a fairy tale but then I realized how much that scares me if... If you didn't want me." The boy sounded sad, and so lost in himself. "Blue, you idiot. Did you even read my email." Simon laughed shaking his head. "You're literally standing a foot away from me and all I want to do is kiss you." Simon decided to be brave and took a step closer. He saw Blue seem to tense up slightly. "Why didn't you call me..." That was Blue that asked this time. What? "Is being this close to me making you that dumbfounded? Blue I don't have your number. You wouldn't give it to me remember." Simon raised a brow standing with his hands in his pockets, he was getting cold but there was no way he was leaving any time soon. "I did. Simon, the shirt I gave you. The one you never wear, it's in the collar. I thought that was your way of telling me you didn't want me." Blue stepped back one step. No. Oh god. "I uh. Damn. Okay, this is going to sound batshit but well. I don't wear the shirt because of I... I sleep with it!" Simon said so fast he wasn't sure Blue heard him.

But he did, he must have heard him because next thing Simon knew there were lips pressed against his and arms wrapping around his waist. Simon closed his eyes touching the boy's neck and shoulder returning the kiss. It was a long kiss, passionate and needy. Something that could show exactly how badly the two needed each other.
Simon focused on every single feeling of the boy, he could just open his eyes and he'd see but no not yet. He tried using his senses to see who he was instead, just as he thought. Broad shoulders with muscles underneath the soaked light t-shirt. Blue for as smart as he is, didn't even have a jacket. He was shivering, Simon felt every part of Blue shivering, some of that was from anxiety. The way these hands felt, his jawline... Simon still felt he was familiar.

Then they parted from the kiss, and Simon immediately tilted his head down to stare at Blue's shoes. "Simon. You can look at me, I'm ready. I'm more than ready after that kiss." Blue's voice was so much clearer now, he knows that voice! Simon's head snapped up to meet Bram Greenfeld's chocolate brown eyes. He froze clinging onto Bram's hands as if Blue was about to run away. "It-It's you." Simon stammered staring at the boy, he was definitely an athlete. Soccer one at that. "Yes, it's me... Are you disappointed?" Bram frowned looking down. "Again, I thought you were smart." Simon smiled tilting Bram's head up. "I've had a crush on you, Bram you, since the middle of Junior year. That's why I spent the entire night with you during your Halloween party. I wanted you to be Blue so I stayed close to you that night." Simon blushed. "You're Jewish." Simon blinked putting all the pieces of Blue and Bram together. "And Black... And Gay." Bram chuckled shaking his head kissing Simon again. This kiss was shorter, slower and calmer. It ended with Simon feeling how badly Bram was shivering. "Bram, jacket, ever heard of one?" Simon snorted. "Ah, yeah I sort of came here in a rush. So I didn't think of it plus it wasn't supposed to rain this bad." Speaking of that, lightning and thunder started kicking up. "Did you drive? Garrett already abandoned me." Bram said over a loud bang of thunder. Simon nodded pointing to his car, one of the only few left in the lot.

The two got to Simons car, he cranked the heat and discarded his now soaked hoodie in the back seat. He grabbed a blanket from the back laying it over Bram. "I usually keep one in here when we go on road trips, Leah gets cold easily and I got sick of her demanding of my heater being turned up followed by Nick immediately complaining he's too hot. It's like driving with toddlers." Simon smiled looking out his window at the storm. "We should wait a bit for it to calm down, I don't want you driving in this," Bram said softly, he was much quieter now that he didn't need to yell over the rain. He sounded more like Bram now.
Bram smiled as if he could hear Simon's thoughts. "This is the most I've ever said to you out loud..." He blushed to cuddle the blanket. "So you really do get tongue-tied around cute guys," Simon smirked recalling the email. "A cute guy." Bram corrected sheepishly looking out the window as well.

Simon sat in silence for a few minutes just taking everything in, he jumped slightly when Bram reached over to hold his hand. "How are you a president?" Simon said suddenly looking at their intertwined hands. "Huh?" Bram blinked. "Your name, how is it a president?" Bram isn't a name that any president shared. "Oh." Bram seemed embarrassed as he shifted and looked away, "Abraham." He said so quietly. Oh. "That suits you so perfectly." Simon smiled leaning closer to Bram so their shoulders were touching. "Bram, I was supposed to sleep over at Leah's tonight so... If I mean, I can't go home soaked like this or my mom will ask 101 questions that I'm not ready for..." Simon thought maybe this was too soon to ask such a thing. "Funny, I was supposed to bring Garrett over tonight but it seems he got distracted. My mom is expecting someone to come home with me, she even made brownies." Bram smiled looking into Simon's eyes. "I think she'd love to have you over. I know I would." Then they kissed again but for a lot longer, I mean they were both freezing and what better way to warm up.
