Niall's Pov

Why won't she just talk to me? I understand that she was hurt when I didn't call, but does she not realize that I was just as upset? All I want to do is apologize and try to get her back. That's the only reason I came back to this freaking school. I was tired of not seeing her, I needed some excuse to see her again.

It takes all that I can to not smash my phone against a wall when she doesn't respond to me. I miss her. It killed me today seeing her with Corey. I could tell being back on the team was killing him. He was always jealous of my skills, even though we are equally as good.

Before I know it, Friday had come. I forgot how big the homecoming game is for the school. Walking in through the doors it looks like some green monster puked over everything. The student council went all out and decorated everything with green and white streamers.

I don't let anything affect me during the day. No matter how many times I got yelled at in class for not paying attention or watching Corey and Amelia going at it in the halls, I didn't let that effect my good mood. Not today. Because for the first time in three years I get to be apart of a soccer team. I've missed the adrenaline coursing through my veins. Being on tour with a million people screaming my name can't even compare to the feeling I get when I'm on that field.

We get to miss our afternoon classes for the big pep rally. If they are still as I remember, the pep rallies are crazy. Everyone gets fucking pumped. People cheer, the cheerleaders do stunts and the soccer team act like they are king's of the world.

"You ready for this pretty boy?" Sawyer asked. There has only been a few people that haven't treated me like some celebrity, and Sawyer is one of them. He was the one that suggested I joined the soccer team. He is one of the starters on defense. He helped talk coach into letting me have a shot. He wasn't happy at first since its already been a month into the season. But he remembered watching me back before I left and figured I could have a chance at it. If if wasn't for Sawyer, I would probably be ten times lonelier than I already am.

"As ready as you are Neanderthal." I say and laugh my obnoxios sounding laugh. Sawyer is big. But when I say big I don't mean fat. The guy is 6'5 and large. He makes a good defender, most guys would be terrified of him. I even have a little fear of him. Except I know that he couldn't hurt a fly.

The student council members direct us to the places we are suppose to sit. They tell us how we are going to play numerous games against the girls soccer team. That means I should be going against Amelia. I evilily laugh while I scan the side where the girls soccer team is sitting. Amelia isnt there? I scan the bleachers next and find her sitting with her friend Caitlin. Since when hasn't she been on the team? If I remember correctly she dominated. The varisty coach wanted her on the team in Sophomore year. You don't hear of that much in our school since it is so big. The coach is really picky, so if she wanted a younger girl on the team, it says a lot.

I get pretty bummed out after I watch her for a few minutes. Not because she wasn't on the team, but because that is just one more thing I didn't know about her. It makes me realize how much I have truely missed out on while I've been off with the boys. I make a silent pact with myself that I won't miss anything more. Even if she doesn't want me around, I will always be there. If she doesn't want me back in her life, I will watch from a distance to make sure she is safe. I want to know what she does now. I'm not missing out on anything else.

We got stuck playing this game where we had to sit on little scooters, while our partner was blindfolded. The blind partner had to push the scooter down the gym and go around the cone 3 times. The person on the scooter could not help steer them, they could only tell them what direction to go. I was partners with Sawyer who volunteered me to sit on the scooter, because we both knew he would probably break it. He ended up pushing me right into a set of bleachers. Corey and this guy Matt were able to get across the line first so the boys one. I look over and see Amelia and Caitlin cheering like crazy for them. For a split second, jealousy rips through me. But is forgotten when Sawyer helps me off the scooter and we head back to our seats.

The principal got up to the potem after all of the games were done and gave some "pep talk". He pretty much went on about how winning this game will help better the school and bring all of the students together. BLah blah blah. Soon the president of the student council motioned for him to wrap it up. I don't know who that kid was, but he was my hero. After the principal stopped talking, the kid got up and got the whole school to do this giant wave to close the pep rally. It was actually pretty cool, not going to lie.

As the pep rally is winding down, I just get more and more pumped for the game tonight. It's suppose to be "under the lights" which means we get to play at night under the big lights instead of during daylight. This makes it more intense. The student council has the team stand by the doors so students can wish them luck or whatever as they leave. I scan the crowd as I thank everyone who wished me luck. There was only one girl I wanted to talk to, and its killing me wondering if she is actually going to say anything or not.

I see her down the way talking to Corey and Matt. She's laughing at something Matt said. I can sort of hear what they're saying.

"Alright, we'll good luck tonight boys!" Amelia says.

"Yeah good luck!" Caitlin agrees.

"Well with you out there watching me I don't need any luck." Corey says and then kisses Amelia's cheek. Amelia starts to blush and looks down at the ground. God I can't stand them together.

"See you tonight girls!" Matt says and then winks. At first I wondered what was tonight, but then I remembered. The big bonfire. After every homecoming, there is this massive bonfire out in an old field. If I remember correctly half of the high school went to it. Maybe I will be able to talk to her there. From what I hear from Sawyer, Corey is a nasty drunk. And if I know anything about Amelia, I know she'd probably avoid him. And that could be the perfect time for me to swoop in.

I watch her as she makes her way down the line. Stopping to tell every boy good luck. I hold my breath as she gets to Sawyer. She stops and gives him a hug.

"Awh Sawyer, good luck tonight!" She says. Sawyer doesn't talk much about Amelia. He says that they are semi-friends. But when I ask him how she seemed when I left he closed up. All he would say was that she didn't do so well. Which worries me like hell. For Sawyer to close up about something, it means it must have been pretty serious.

They finally release each other and she starts walking in my direction. But she doesn't stop. She doesn't say a single word to me. But....she slowly looks up and gives me a small smile. That's all I need. I don't need her to hug me, or tell me good luck. Just that smile alone, showed me that somewhere deep down she cared. That she was cheering for me.
