Chapter Eleven !
AURORA HAD HER BROWS furrowed together as she tried to process the information that Betty was spilling. Her eyes flickered up to look at Chic who was staring down at the floor. Aurora bit the inside of her cheek and looked over to her mother, "Mom?""Betty, Aurora, listen. The truth is Chic's DNA doesn't match because. . . Hal isn't his father." Aurora and Betty shared confused glances before they turned back to their mother. Alice turned to Chic, "But I am your mother, you understand me?"
Aurora shook her head and stood up, waving her arms around. "Hang on, what? What? Then who is Chic's father?" She asked, shaking her head. "Chic's my son. And whoever the father is, is not gonna be a part of our lives. So there's no reason to open old wounds that have healed many times over!" Alice told her daughter before turning back to Chic. "Come here," she muttered as she cradled Chic's head in her chest.

AURORA BIT INTO HER apple, sucking the juice out of it before chewing on the piece she had bit off. She licked her lips and leaned her head on Jughead's shoulder, a sigh escaping her lips. "I just loved your spin piece in the paper, Olivia Pope," Jughead told Veronica with an amused expression. Aurora sat up, a spark of interest blooming inside her. "Can we not, Jughead?" Veronica asked. "Did you know about Southside High closing? Or the prison?" Aurora asked, biting down on her bottom lip.
The look on Betty's face was asking for Aurora to stop, but Aurora didn't see it. She had heard Sweet Pea's long and angry rant about the prison that will soon be built on the bones of Southside High. He didn't care about the school closing. It was a crappy school, he had said, no one cared about us there. Once he was done ranting, Aurora did the only thing she could do. She sat him down with his head on her lap and she ran her fingers through his hair soothingly, singing soft lyrics to him until he eventually fell asleep. She knew he had fallen asleep when lazy words were replaced with loud snores.
"Of course not. That was all her parents' doing. Right, V?" Betty asked Veronica. Veronica and Archie shared a look that Aurora caught. Aurora raised a brow in curiosity, leaning forwards on her elbows that rested on the table. "She didn't know, Aurora, okay?" Archie asked, "You can tell your boyfriend to calm down."
"Oh, screw off, Archie," Aurora snapped at the ginger. Jughead nudged Aurora's ribs with his elbow and she rolled her eyes, taking another bite of her apple. "I have to conserve my energy. I'm going on a hunger strike to protest Southside High closing and to get it reopened," Jughead announced, earning a smile from Aurora. "I'm in. I wanna join," Aurora grinned.
