Ethan

At a point of life sometimes you wish some things didn't exist in first place.

Life after a breakup you wish for your ex to be teleported to Mars — like they never existed.

Like you wish your teacher to be eaten up by Earth when he announces a surprise test — like they never existed.

I am no exception. I wish for things like that to happen too.

For example just five minutes ago when my care broke in the middle of a remote highway road while Avalyn was driving, I wish for a sudden sulphuric acid explosion in her body which will lead her to death. Nothing happened. My prayers remained unanswered. Nevertheless, I did chase her around the car and cussed the hell out of her.

"Your car is a piece of trash Rodriguez, it's not my fault!" Ava kicked the tyre.

"Shut up, Ava." I groaned. "I need to think what to do now. We are in the middle of a highway at eleven in the night and our hometown is three hours drive away."

She snorted. "No shit Sherlock."

Sometimes I really wish I could extract her too long of a tongue out of her mouth and knot it in a bundle before feeding it to my dog.

"I am going to call mom." She said before taking her phone out of the pocket of her ripped black jeans. — yeah, she has no sense of dressing up.

"Are you nuts?!" I snatched her phone away before she could make the call. "If you call Sarah, she'd get worried. Then she'll call my mother and they both will get worried. And when my mother gets worried, she gets mad at me........and that scares the hell out of me.  So unless you want to spend the next three hours with a nineteen year old acting like a ten year old who ran out of Nutella, don't call anyone."

She took her phone from me grumbling. "What a sin did I commit to be stuck with you like this in the middle of the night."

I did the deep-breathe-in-deep-breathe-out treatment to suppress the urge to murder her. "I am going to call the mechanics." I told her as I tried to find my phone in the pockets of my clothes.

Ava tensed at her place.

I frowned as I realized my phone was nowhere to be found.

"Ava—"

"I'd didn't throw it on purpose. It slipped out of my hand."

"Screw off!" I ran a hand down my face in annoyance.

I knew handing my phone to Avalyn to operate the playlist was a bad idea, but I didn't think it would be this bad.

"You can use my phone." Avalyn offered.

"Like I have an option." I snapped as I took her phone.

Sorry Ava but the battery has ran out — Siri

"Damnit!" I cussed the phone and threw it at Ava which she caught just in time.

"Now what?" She looked day her phone and then back at me.

For the first time in the history of human race, Ava looked at me like I was a knight-in-the-shining-armour. I loved it. Not that she looked at me like that but the fact that her eyes begged help. I like the idea of a helpless Ava Thomas. Cruel right? I know.

I laughed. I laughed wholeheartedly while Ava glared at me with a straight expression. "Shut up Ethan!" She hit me in the shoulder after five minutes of my constant laughing.

By the time I got hold over myself Ava was fuming red in anger. "There's a motel. If we walk we'll reach there in fifteen minutes."

"I'm not staying anywhere with you. That too overnight. No freaking way."

"Like I'm dying to share a room with you." I said sarcastically.

She glared at me. "We will take two rooms. You go in yours. I go in mine."

"I can't afford to rooms and a broken down car's bill." I stated.

"I will pay for my room. I can afford a room." She sighed.

"Excuse me, but I never said I was going to use my money for all this. You are going to pay for both the things. The car and our room. Because apparently my mother has blocked my credit card 'cause you ranted to her about me. Now deal with it."

"Ugh Ethan what kind of boy are you! Asking a girl to pay for your bills."

"Who's the girl over here? You? Seriously?" I towered over her smirked.

"She slapped me across the face so hard I saw heavenly bodies. "Shut up." After a minute my eyes came back to normal vision. Ava was walking away.

"Where are you going?" I yelled at her back.

"Do you want to spend the night on the road." She turned around and continued to walk backwards.

"You mean, you are okay with the motel idea?" I asked genuinely confused and shocked. To be honest I never thought she would agree to spend an hour in the same room as me, let alone one full night.

"Do I have an option, thickhead." She snapped assuring me that she will stay the same Ava Thomas I've known since we were in diapers.

She turned around and continued to follow the directions to the motel. While I  jogged towards her to catch up with her.

Tonight is going to be legendary.
