Venus

You're the difference between a metaphor and a simile,
Okay?
You're like waking up warm,
And you're falling asleep cold,
A morning star and an evening star.
You're like Aphrodite – full of seashells and climbing rose
You're Venus – full of myrtle and worn coins
But isn't there this flaw,
Because it's like you're moving apart from me
You spin in retrograde
In the opposite direction to me.
We're not quite the same size,
We don't quite fit
(though why would you want to)
But it still means that you're one of the brightest things in the sky
It still means that your arm is warmer than my arm
And I can feel it when its next to mine.
