Saturn

As kids,
We played with yellow hula hoops in the garden,
And you span
And now,
I play yellow CDs,
And watch them turn,
And I don't answer the phone when you call.
I'll look up at the sky with you,
Yellow bracelets on your wrists,
And we look for Saturn,
Somewhere up there,
And you ask me why I don't answer the phone,
And I ask why we don't play with yellow hula hoops in the garden,
As I avoid the question so delicately,
And we look for Saturn –
As flat as we feel.
I turn in the bed
And the yellow plates
In your kitchen
Break to dust
And we hope Saturn will let us
Take his place.
