"You're a jerk." I say to Ethan.

"Hey." Dad pipes up.

"What! He gave Tate my number!" I turn my phone around, holding out my phone to him. A message had popped up, a dumb quote from a book. I googled it, sure enough it was Wuthering heights.

"It's convenient for him to get you since you're on the team with his cousin!" Ethan defended.

"Dad, tell him no!" I huff.
"I'm confused." Dad laughs.

"Tate won't leave me alone! He's annoying! And Ethan is an enabler!" I glare at Ethan as my phone whistles, sure enough another text from the same number.

"Ethan gave me your number, don't be mad at him." I read out loud. Ethan grins so I slap him upside the head. He's out of his seat in seconds but i'm already out of my seat, sprinting away.

"Hey! Kill each other at your Mother's house, not here!" Dad yells. I yelp as Ethan tackles me onto the carpet of the hallway. He punches my side, not hard enough to bruise, but hard enough to hard. I manage to catch his wrist before I get another one, kneeing him in the stomach, attempting to maneuvering in a way that enables me to get in a position making it so I can get my arm around his neck. He was bigger than me, easily falling backwards, landing on top of me. I groan and Ethan just laughs, adding an unnecessary elbow to my gut before getting up.

"Should have tapped out." He laughs, getting up.

"Dad! Ethan killed me!" I groan louder. Ethan kicks at my side and I grab his foot. He lets out a yell, wiggling it out of my hand, running away.

"Fucker." I mutter, getting up. My phone chimes and I pause, kneels on the carpet, pulling my phone out. I stand, looking at the new text. 'I'm not that bad!' It says. I snort, typing back. 'Understatement.'

'Not.' his text comes a moment later.

'Is' I reply.

'Not, Bronte.' He wrote. I send an middle finger Emoji, shoving my phone in my pocket, ignoring the next ding.
