The loud bangs continued to erupt from the door, screams coming from down the hallway and through the vents, scraping and scratching cutting them off.

They're climbing in the vents!

Rushing to the vent, I slid the seal down, a few seconds later a loud bang erupted as dent appeared. A soft meow sounded from behind curtains in the back corner of the room, attracting me to find its source.

Pushing aside the curtain, an orange cat laid on the table, white fur on his chin and paws, he looked at me with wide eyes full of fear and pain. His stomach split open with his intestines wrapping around his back, black and crusted, but no blood.

"Alfred..." I cried falling to my knees, my hand resting on his head. "Even you're not safe from the infection." A small tear forming in my eye.

"I'm so-so sorry." I whimpered, stroking his chin, one final time. Checking the counter on the side of my pistol, a holographic three appeared.

Good. One for Alfred. One for me. And one for whoever finds this.

Alfred closed his eyes and rested his head on the bed as if he knew what was about to happen. Pointing the barrel of the weapon at his head, a light meow sounding from Alfred. Closing my eyes, I looked away, a small bang sounded as I pulled the trigger.

Turning away from Alfred, I dared not look at him. My wrist flashing a blue light at an alert. Flicking my wrist, a picture of a broken planet appeared, but not just any planet, Olympus, my home, broken into pieces. Three pulse detectors flat, no life.

What do I have to lose? My home has been destroyed, my family is dead, my friends are being slaughtered. Why is life so cruel?

The screams becoming louder as a hand breached through the door, spikes covering the palm two more fingers squirmed on top. The vent seal bulge getting bigger at each loud crash, till a crack shown through, two bright white eyes stared at me, shifting to red as they stared at me. The bangs on the vent seal becoming harsher and even louder than before, a distorted howl sounding from the monster in the vent.

Putting the barrel of the weapon against my head, I readied myself to pull the trigger. The vent seal flying off the wall and into the middle of the room, Pulling the trigger, something yanked my arm.

A bullet flying into the wall as I missed, A sudden sharp pain filled my right shoulder as I saw my arm on the floor in front of me, fingers still twitching with.

Realizing what had happened I screamed only for it to be cut off as something dug into my throat, silencing me.

Being thrown at the wall, my body was still on its knees, my knees. My head missing, it fell forward, limp, dead.

Everything pink, a white glow crept along the edges and toward the center, turning everything white before a blackness faded in.

Seeing only nothing, not darkness, but nothing, I felt three slimy fingers grab me, a menacing snarl slowly being tuned out while the fingers and slime seemingly disappeared.
