"So, what do you think happened?" Arsen asked, silently waiting for a reply.

"What? Sorry, I was staring off into space." I responded, flashing back to reality.

"Mercury's Son, what do you think happened? Heard they were testing out a new Jumper." He added, sliding his boots over his feet.

"Probably knocked out their engines and communications or something like that," Answering with the most probable event to have happened.

Grabbing a pair of goggles, I placed them over my eyes, blue static filling everything, before fading away as the VAP came online, greeting me with a 'Welcome to the Virtual Awareness Piece.'

Arsen, grabbing a weapon, tossed me my rifle. The body cubical, with four barrels protruding from it, each one having a different design and shape, but all squared at the tip.

"You ready?" Arsen asked, flipping the barrel of his rifle like a water wheel, a smile on his face.

"Again, we probably don't need. They most likely lost connection to the Wave." I reminded, but he was clearly too excited at thought of finally getting to use his SARX S class rifle in real combat.

"Shooting holograms in the range isn't enough?" I asked, trying to talk some sort of sanity into him.

"No, they aren't enough of a challenge. They're too predictable, they're not like people who are always full of surprises." Throwing the barrel forward, it flicked at the orange mess on his head which couldn't really be called hair.

"Mercyery-Mercerly-The objective is ten quantum fields aways, you all know the drill. Who names these things?" The intercom boomed throughout the entire ship.

Throwing my kit onto my back, I attached a small screen to my rifle, plugging a cord from the kit around my waist to the screen, giving it life.

The motion tracker picking up only Arsen as it was set to the lowest setting. Each pulse beeping as a single dot appeared on the display.

Disconnecting the cord from the tracker, the display disappeared, leaving a blank screen.

"The target is two quantum fields away, get down to the Hatch and prepare for boarding. Claw crew get to your stations and grab that ship when in range. NOW!" The voice blasted through the ship once more.

"Well, that's our cue," I said, walking over to the door, I slid it open, the metal scraping against each other.

"Hope this fun." He remarked, throwing his weapon over his shoulders, standing up and walking out the door.

"You know it's not gonna as fun as you say it," I responded, stepping out the door, sliding it back to its original position.
