Chapter Ten: Spica
A couple days passed since then. The holidays were in full swing. I could hear the chime of tinny music in the distance. I gazed down from the window at extravagant lights and bright decorations strung about the city. I wasn't exactly sure what this Earthian holiday was about, but it had something to do with the god they worshiped. Lilliputians had holidays of their own back on our home world, which were mainly festivals, ceremonies, and rituals to the ancient primordial beings we idolized. This was much different, however. While our holidays were quiet, somber, and strict, theirs were loud, outlandish, and overwhelmingly festive.
I peeked out from the window in my dollhouse, trying to see if I could spot Jinnai on the street from here. He had traveled back to the doll shop to get me some warmer clothes, since it was icy and bone-chillingly cold outside. With my low tolerance for cold temperatures, my Scout uniform and the other meager clothing articles I stashed in my pack wouldn't be nearly good enough to protect me from the outdoor chill. I felt incredibly grateful to be inside a warm, furnished, comfortable room, rather than out there in the chaotic, ice-coated landscape. Sharp, jagged icicles hung down from the edges of rooftops like knives waiting to drop. It looked dangerous. I just wanted Jinnai to hurry up and get back to me.
After our so-called 'day of repentance,' our friendship had morphed into a much different beast. We were at the point where we could no longer call each other 'friends' with a straight face.
We had been within each other for the very first time. Because of that, we were now bonded on a much deeper, more incorporeal level. But I didn't regret it, not one bit. If I was going to leave him forever, I was going to make sure we both said our goodbyes with no regrets. Just recalling that day sent shivers down my spine.
Another thing gave me chills as well. A deep, intimidating voice rumbled behind me. "You sure look happy, don't you?" I spun around. Out of seemingly nowhere, a tall, slim, fiery-haired Lilliputian appeared in front of me. His glare burned like fire. I staggered back. "Wh-what are you doing here?!" Antares Scorpius ignored my question. "Spica Virginis...look how far you've fallen. You used to be the queen's favorite, and now you're a house pet. Actually, even a house pet would be too high for you, because as far as I know, humans don't engage in illicit relations with their pets!"
A hollow gasp fled my quaking lungs. "A-Antares, how did you know about that?"
"Do you take me for a fool, Spica?" he growled. "I've had my nanobots spying on you ever since you arrived at this filthy human hole. Just what kind of impure woman are you, to go and forincate with that...that beast!?" Anger burned in my chest. "Don't say that! He's not a beast! He has a name, and it's Jinnai Kobayashi! I gave myself to him because I loved him, and that's all you need to know!"
Antares snorted. "You love him? What a joke. Honestly, you expect me to believe that? How in your rational mind could you possibly love that creature?! Just look at him! He's a walking monolith! He can crush you in one step or devour you in one gulp! Is that what you want? Do you want to be eaten alive by that monster!?" I gritted my teeth. I stood firm on my position.
"He's not a monster! He would never do anything like that! Unlike you, Kobayashi cares about me and loves me for who I am! What would you know about love, Scorpius? Have you ever truly loved anyone? All you care about is lust and power! During those two years of that living hell they called a training program, you abused me and treated me like your slave, and now you follow me all the way down to Earth and dare to lecture me about how wicked and impure I am!? Perhaps you should take a look in the mirror!"
That last sentence set him off like nothing else. He burst into red-hot rage. He grabbed me by my collar and forced me down into the pillows. I clawed at his wrists and squirmed about, trying to pry free, but he held me down like a vice. "You really are a weak woman, Spica. You chose that beast because you think he's safe. After all, he's just an ignorant human boy who's barely lived a fraction of your life. But when a man gets serious, there's nothing you can do. Even the monster only wants you for one thing. But if you really want your pleasure in...that way, I can assist you in that department."
