“KMK: the one who ended the two-thousand year war, made the giant Warship Spitfire, made humanity join the Warriors, and making lamps that apparently heat this place,” Onus says.
“She’s also very cute,” I say, gazing at the printed portrait of a KMK, young female in a white uniform with medals lining her chest and shoulders, short black hair and a cute smile.
“The only thing that's cool in here is this tank.” Onus gestures to a pink and yellow tank gathering dust behind bulletproof glass.
“It’s cool that they set up this place for Mist,” I say as I rub my hand on a gun that says S.T.R.O.B.E (84.4).
“Yeah, I was surprised. I guess the material you found in the core brought jobs and the government quickly built this museum, only to realize its cheaper to destroy an entire planet. We’re finally going to leave tomorrow... I’ll miss you Nobis.”
I look at her. She moves her brown hair out of her face. I nod. “I’ll miss you too.” I look up to see a rare clear sky, a somewhat of a lucky superstition on this planet. The crystal moon of Mist, shaped like a octahedron. “The only beautiful thing here, and it isn't even on the planet.” I sigh to myself and walk away, waving goodbye to Onus…
During the middle of the night, a noise from outside startles me. Thunder, an electrical charge, and thunder again. I get up, dress in lazy attire, and head outside. The sky is full of black clouds with a huge laser shooting up into it. That's... our anti-warship gun? I sigh. Suddenly, a large machine pops out of the clouds. A Warship, the size of a skyscraper. The green metal oval pierces the clouds, large cannons jets out of all sides of it. I don't know where the bunker is for invasions, but I do know I should probably get out of this town.
I start to run, anywhere, looking to the edge of the city for solace. I’m joined by other runners. It’s a marathon of death. The Warship shoots the ground randomly. Each shot, a boom, followed by an explosion. Nothing is fired back. Screams all around me cloud my head. The Warship is fully emerged from the clouds, revealing what looks like hangars full of aircrafts. I studied modern warology, and I know when anything goes into the atmosphere with aircrafts, it’s probably for a full out invasion.
Aircrafts emerge from the Warship like a swarm of insects. They dive towards the ground and bomb the city. I run even quicker. Someone trips in front of me. I look and see its Onus. I stop to help her up. She yells out, tears brimming her eyes, “I think I got hit!”. Her leg melts as the blood turns a weird color. I help her up and hobble as fast as I can.
A heavy assault vehicle shows up and out jump Mist soldiers. I cheer. Our soldiers stand there beautifully in their white armor, looking up at the enemy with no fear. An aircraft bombs the vehicle instantly. I fly away, feeling like I've been pushed by a person aggressively throughout my body. I fall to the ground. Everything becomes blurry and silent.
A large object slams the ground. I blink rapidly. It’s an aircraft. Out pops several aliens. They walk around the exploded vehicle and study the bodies. I look to the side and see Onus crawling towards the KMK museum. The aliens stare at the other bodies on the ground and shoot at them. I tell Onus, “Stop moving.”
The aliens hear me and begin walking towards us. I crawl back, but it's no use. One alien loads its weapon and points the gun at my head. I kick it in the legs as it fires. It shoots me in the gut. I play dead while feeling the warm blood drip on my stomach. I feel very sick. I gaze as the alien shoots Onus in the head. I try to focus...
