Boston
Years ago...

Zanders pov~

This girl in the cell next to me, was actually in a similar situation to me, for the first time I didn't feel alone. I smiled at her and said happily "Well I've got your back in here" I tried to comfort her. She smiled back and nodded "Thanks" she said sounding appreciative in the best way she could. Then the alarm went off for lights out and she sat down on her bed and I sat down on mine. I quietly said "Night Emma" but just loud enough for her. Then I rolled over and after about 20 minutes I was asleep. It was always difficult trying to sleep here as there would be people trying to break out all the time, fights between cell mates and just you and your thoughts was sometimes enough to keep you awake at night. Questioning if you would ever get out or if you were going to be permanently stuck behind these walls of roaring silence. People would always get framed for things they didn't do. One minute someone was out the next someone was walking in to fill there place. Each person more hopeless then the last. No one believed anymore. No one has hope.

Next day ~

I woke up to the clanging sounds of the police officer banging on all the cell doors to wake up. I couldn't be bothered for his crap some days and I'd ignore him. This was one of those days. He stayed outside my cell for a good 10 minutes until I knew I was just not getting anymore sleep this morning. Sometimes he gave me the benefit of the doubt. Then I remembered was in the cell next door. I didn't know long she had been in here. If she was new or old. I'm just glad I don't have the old guy next to me anymore. It was time for breakfast not that it's a good time either. I'll catch Emma there. So we went down to breakfast in lines. It was the disgusting gruel they try and call porridge. It should be called vomit but it's not like they would give us anything else. It's not like we are staying in a 5 star hotel. I seen Emma at a table and went into that direction. This was the first time we had seen each other properly but I had seen enough to remember what she looked like. She had pretty noticeable features. She looked up. So I asked her what I was wondering "Well how long do you have left in here?". She sighed in happily but also with a hint of sadness. "2 months" She said. I thought that's good for her as she needs to be out but then I remembered what she told me yesterday that she's 8 months along. She was going to have her baby in here. Her baby is going to go into the adoption system to. It was an awful place for a child. "I see" I said bluntly. Me and her both know how this is since we had both been through the system. I can't say I was the easiest child and by what she thought of the system I don't think she was either. I get out in 2 months to. "We get out at the same time, do you wanna make a pact" I asked her going out a whim. I doubt she would say though I probably wouldn't either but to my surprise she agreed.

2 months later ~

We were out of that place. Outside we were met with a yellow car. The police officer gave the keys to Emma. She wasn't the happiest still but can you blame her she had to give up her child without any choice in it really. She was kind of happy though as she thought with someone else her child would have a better a chance. I got into the passenger seat of the car and nodded to say go. She started driving and within a short amount of time we were out of Boston.

Maine
Present day....

It has been a few years now but me and Emma still live together. We moved to Maine as soon as we got out. It's not that far from Boston. We moved here for a fresh start. Me and her help each other out. She's happier now. She is also really good at finding people and says her super power is knowing when someone is lying I'm not hundred percent convinced though. It was about midnight right now and she just came back from her date. "How did it go" I asked. Knowing what she would say as she doesn't have much luck. "Terrible he was married and has kids" she said. That's a new one to add to the list. She's had a range of weirdos. It was a her birthday and we couldn't really afford much but I got her a little something. I pulled out a box with a little bit of ribbon it. "Open it" I said with a smile. It was a necklace with a heart shape at the bottom. "I love it" she said. My smile went from ear to ear. I don't see her this happy often so I knew I did good. She then got out a cupcake and put a candle in it. Right before she made a wish I heard someone knocking on the door. "I'll get it" I went to the door and answered to see a small boy with brown hair and chestnut brown eyes. He let him self in. "Excuse me" I followed him what do you think you are doing. He looked at me and grinned. "You two need to come with me" he said.
