I pulled the pillow round my head trying to drown the sound of pounding music coming from next door. The houses weren't attached, in fact I'd say there was quite a bit of space between the houses but the new neighbours my aunt had warned me about were having a garden party and it was 1 in the morning and even though I didn't have work in the morning I really did want to sleep. That was it. I kept telling myself to let it be but Amanda had me working hard today to sort all the systems that were screwed up in the power cut the other day so I wasn't in the mood.
I got out of bed and stormed around my room tying my hair into a messy bun then throwing on a pair of denim shorts and just leaving my grey tank top on and stormed down stairs. I threw on some converse, unlocked the front door stepped out, relocked the door and headed for the house next door.
the side gate was open and there were people milling around it, I followed the music and walked through to the backyard looking for a sign of someone in charge or the source of the music, which ever came first I'd shut it up. Thinking about it taking my aunts advice to introduce myself to the neighbours might have been a good idea so then I'd atleast know who to scream at, looks like it's the music going first.
I looked around the yard and saw a huge sound system located on the decking near the pool. It was unattended and now was my chance. I walked over trying not to draw too much attention but my anger and sleep deprivation was driving me right now. I got to the speakers and then realised I wasn't sure how to turn it off. I looked around and found an extension lead from the house and followed it in. Atleast this way I might get out without them know it was me. But what if they plug it back in? Oh crap this wasn't a great plan. I looked around the room that in normal circumstances was probably a kitchen, I saw a pair of scissors on the counter and grabbed them.
I found the plug and feeling a little anxious cut the plug. The music quickly stopped and a chorus of moans and boos irrupted through the party crowd. I stood up put the scissors down and crossed my arms in a flurry only to pulled back by someone into the corner of the room. I turned shocked as I saw it to be the boy from the shoe shop.
"What are you doing?! Are you crazy?" He hissed.
"I- The music was too loud!" I said trying to stand my ground.
"Then why are you here at-" he began laughing but was interrupted by a roar of anger from a snooty blonde girl who was stood at the plug looking furious.
"Who the fuck cut my PLUG!" she screeched looking around. The boy stood in front of me, guarding me from veiw.
"It was some girls from West high, they er came in and I asked them to leave and they cut the plug and ran." The boy said a little hesitant, the girl starred him out and then looked around the room.
"Did anyone else see these girls?" She questioned.
Yeah, I think I saw some running out." one boy answered and a few others joined in with nods and more agreeing answers.
"I'm going to kill them! ERGH!" The girl screamed and stormed out to the garden. The party carried on just without music.
"Thanks... I think." I said to the boy.
"You're welcome India, but what the hell are you doing here?" He smiled.
"You remembered my name?" I blurted without thinking.
"Yeah, it was like yesterday that I saw you..." He laughed making me feel like an idiot.
"I'm er from next door, the music was irritating me." I laughed.
"Right so you cut the plug?" He chuckled.
"It was loud! So I'm guessing that this is her house?" I said indicating the snobby and now angry girl.
