"Why hello, Mademoiselle," I looked up as the voice echoed through the cell, I stood slowly using the wall for support and I straightened walking over as I leaned against the bars to look around. Seeing as the voice was unfamiliar, I pressed myself against the metal bars curiously having been led to believe that no one else was inside of the castle.I looked around the dark hallway seeing nothing but the other empty cells, "Hello?" I asked quietly, "Who's there?" I demanded as I backed away from the bars.
There was the familiar clank of metal, it repetitively slammed against the floor although it wasn't loud compared to a pot hitting the floor. "Don't be alarmed, Madam," the voice chuckled in a friendly manner, "I am--" the man came into view as the clanking stopped abruptly. I looked around in confusion seeing no one before looking down as the room seemed to light up slightly, I gasped upon seeing a candelabra. It's faint light was enough to light up the room, I leaned down towards it wondering how I hadn't noticed it standing there before.
The flames burned brightly on the candle sticks wedged into the metal holdings, the pale wax seemed to hardly be melting as it should've however against the hot embers. "How strange," I muttered to myself, I leaned close, the heat of the fire comforting my frostbiten hands as I stretched them out towards the flames.
However, I pulled them away in peculiarity as the candelabra shifted slightly, my eyes widened before I slowly stood up. Gasping in surprise as it talked, "Now, Madam, don't be frightened," it said before I gasped in pure shock as it turned to face me, I bit back a yell as I backed myself into the corner.
"You can...you can talk," I gasped out, the candelabra hopped towards me with a sheepish smile. "And your walking, smiling." You said after, before cautiously stepping closer as he spreads his two metal arm's out.
"I see you're a perceptive one, madam," he chuckled out before I let myself slowly go on to my knee's in front of the talking candle light. "I am Lumière. Personal advisor to the prince, although as you can see I can only be useful as a candelabra at the time." He joked humorlessly, although I gave a small sympathetic smile.
I tilted my head at Lumière. "So, you used to be human? Or have you always been like this?" I asked him, genuinely confused. I didn't expect him to be human, because how would that be possible, but at the same time that would be the only other explanation as to why an inanimate object could be having a conversation with you.
Before, Lumierè had the time to reply, with a heavy gust of air, his flames went out. I stiffened before turning and quickly getting to my feet as I shuffled away as the Beast from before appeared in front of the cell, his eyes on me.
Lumière turned towards his master, his candles gesturing as if they were hands as he spoke, "I was just welcoming our guest," he says calmly with a light chuckle although his metal brows furrow worriedly. "It must be awfully lonely in this cell without the comfort of another person, Master." He however, stands dejected as his master huffs at him angrily, his expression only hardening.
