Elijah:
I can see that she's about to cry again (all the time), and I hug her tight to show her that I'm with her. She accepts the hug gratefully, but after a while, she wriggles out of it and tells me that she has a wish.
'I'll make anything come true for you,' I tell her automatically, although I know that I don't have the power to really make everything come true.
'I want to go see Jo's and Alaric's grave, and the graves of everyone who died while I was sleeping. I'm sorry that I couldn't attend their funeral.'
'Of course,' I nod. I'm capable of making that wish come true.
I wait until Elena changes into a black dress, and then we set out to the cemetery. On the way, we stop at a florist's, where we buy red roses so that Elena doesn't come to the graves empty-handed.
It's a sunny day, the weather rather invites you to cheerful frolicking than mourning your dead relatives and friends. However, I understand why she feels like it's her duty to honour their memory today.
I keep aloof so that she doesn't feel uncomfortable while she hardly fights another wave of tears and puts roses on the graves of people she knew and loved. I try to support her as much as I can in this tough situation, and I have the feeling that she really appreciates it. At least one thing that can fill me with happiness in this sad moment.
